  1. I fished bones on the flats at Las Salinas. He put me on my first bonefish. Super knowledgable - and more patient than most flats guides. Jeff
  2. I fished with Fillipe at Las Salinas - great guy, great guide.
  3. Gord at Westwinds once showed me 5 nine foot 6wt TFOs on the rack - all the same model, all different lengths (within an inch). This was a few years ago so their attention to detail may be have improved since then.
  4. The correlation between heavily logged drainages and flooding should be looked at. A mature spruce tree can take up 100 gallons of water per day - this has to have a huge effect on buffering a heavy rainfall event. People in the timber industry will argue that it's all destined to burn eventually anyway and though that may be true, the ecosystem that developed after a fire is far different than what is left after clear cut harvesting.
  5. Here is the reply from the city after inquiring via their Facebook page: While The City of Calgary worked with the provincial government on this project the Harvie Passage is owned and maintained by the Government of Alberta. http://www.harviepassage.ca/about.html Thanks for your concern though, we understand the frustration. http://environment.alberta.ca/04012.html
  6. I second this - got to use this rod on a float last summer and it was the perfect streamer rod. The extra foot makes throwing big flies and mending much easier. Highly recommended.
  7. Where have you seen them in the Red Deer system? I've never seen one.
  8. Some shots from this season.
  9. Thanks for contributing ...
  10. Caught in the Red Deer.
  11. Can't see it from the pic but it was sharply pointed with a concave curve on the backside. Even from above the surface looking down this fish appeared much larger and darker than all the other Rockies in the school - larger scales as well.
  12. Agreed - where do they expect the people who use Harvey Passage recreationally to take out? That area needs a public launch.
  13. Another thing to consider would be spare rods - if your trip is planned around fishing and you break a rod the first day you just wasted a huge amount of money to watch other people fish.
  14. 6wt will be light for bones - plus you'll be way outgunned if you come across permit. Should have an 8wt on the flats.
