  1. I am on aboard with BiggyJ's suggestion of extending the NW regulations to 22x.
  2. As indicated by 420, it is my understanding that any change natural surface water ways and/or drainage should only be done with consultation and permission with the appropriate government authorities. Also note the quality and quantity of water from each spring will range from being poor to very good dependant on its source aquifer. Springs are more active in the early summer and in some cases are dormant for the rest of the year. Base on my experience as a hydrogeologist and folks I know that have a trout pond, a good case scenario would be a pond/dugout that is fed by surface water and supplemented with groundwater from a discharging aquifer (spring). There are numerous publically (government) available regional maps that provide high level data on areas of likely aquifer discharge (springs). You can use these maps as a "first cut" and then explore on the ground to verify. Good luck in your search.
  3. Reported some poachers this weekend. The CO and Parks have been very good communicating back and has already charged one and is reviewing additional charges for the other 3.
  4. Good luck and Terrance and I will see you at the cutty hut this summer. The Bow has been real good to me so I will be tossing the dry flies there. Let me know how the Crow goes as I may go down there next weekend. Garry
  5. AquaSeal did the job for me when I had the same problem.
  6. In the market for new wading boots. Have worn out my Simms Rivershed in the last couple years and was looking at Simms again, however some folks have indicated that Patagonia is a good boot. Comments and opinions would be apprecicated. Thank you in advance for your comments.
  7. Jim, Too bad for Bear. Do you know if the ice is off Wedge? Thanks, Garry
  8. Cataract Creek in Kananaskis also has a large population of small brookies similiar to Elbow Lake.
  9. Though the brown looked bad, it swam away quickly and should recover and be available for the next flyfisher.
  10. Some pictures from Terrance and I winter fishing at the Bow. Can't wait for spring for the snow to melt. Enjoy.
  11. Orange Stimulater BWO Elk Hair Caddis Parachute adams Beaded Prince Nymph
  12. Unfortunately when its Gov't, its us tax payers that end up footing the bill.
  13. Saw evidence of poaching in the Oldman River area this weekend as my son found an empty package dew worms in a hole where there used to be big bulls. Only caught a juvenille as it would appear the big ones went for the dew worms.
  14. Thanks for the information as we have a 5 month old pyrense and she is always sniffing/exploring when we take her flyfishing. Will shorten the leash to keep her closer to us. Best wishes to your dog on a speedy recovery.
  15. Just saw a black bear along on the north part of Crowsnest Lake this morning. Other bear tracks noted near our project area. These guys are not sleeping yet
  16. I know several folks that play on-line using multiple large screens. Very few of them make money (if they are honest). Big swings in thier bank roll and look for collusion as I know it happens. I rather play live as its is more entertaining as you can have a few drinks and watch sporting events on big screen.
  17. The fresh water aquatic criteria (includes fish, plants, insects and all that live in the aquatic environment) for benzene in Alberta is 0.69 parts per million which is 0.000069% benzene. It does not take gasoline to impact a freshwater environment.
  18. Fines + confiscate fishing equipment + one year suspension of angling = enforcement??
  19. I live in Scenic Acres NW and in the early morning during the winter, you can see groups of 3 to 5 on the regular basis along Stony Trail and sometimes on a green strip near our house adjacent to shools. A likely reason is there seems to be a good population of rabbits in our area, including some beneath our neighbours back deck. For those that do not like coyote fur, come get some rabbit fur.
  20. My first post as Terrance (flytyer101) usually does this. K-Country fishing in the snow last weekend. Some nice cutties between the wind, rain and snow. The bears are down feeding on the berries, so bearware when going to K-Country Happy Cuttie:) Head shot entry???? Colorful Cuttie Bear S**t w/berries
