I still measure pike/walleye with weight - my biggest pike on the fly is 7.5lbs (Wolf Lk) but I couldn't tell you how long that was. Caught opening week so the fish was skinny compared to how they look in the fall.
I'd be concerned about how exactly one goes about weighting a trout without mis-handling the fish. IS there a net that does that or was the fish hung by its gills.
I've seen them on-line before

It wouldn't just be length you need an idea of the girth as well. That being said a 9 lb trout is pretty big!

Thats a nice brown, good job guys!

Has anyone fished on Echo Lake? Is it any good?

I was kind of curious too. Checked out there web page and I gotta say, I like the flame paint job option. It would suit my angriness.

SO i just got a dry fly beginner pack from howard Hackle and it very nice. The quality seems very high (to my in experienced eyes) so all and all i am really happy with it. However it smell REALLY strong like moth balls or something and i haven't even opened the bag yet. Anything i can do?
Don't lick it! In all seriousness though, I've bought capes before that absolutely stunk, Just dealt with it and ether I got use to it or it went away. However if you really not impressed I'd give him a call and see what he say's.

I found a new avatar for you!
Sorry for hijacking, I couldn't resist the opportunity!

What is this Thorax style you speak of?
I believe what they are talking about is a comparadun pattern. You can use C.D.C. or a Deer hair wing fanned out, also it's placed further back on the shank giving you a longer Thorax.

I also thought this one was pretty good.

AJ - nice shots by the way!
Thanks, Those look like some good article's, I'll read them more in depth after all the little beast's go to bed.

You won't get good low light photos with most point and shoots on the market today unless you're doing still photography with a low fixed ISO and long exposure. Point and shoot cameras when in auto mode generally boost the ISO setting in order to get a low light shot. Once the ISO is boosted noise is introduced into the image which results in the dark and grainy look you speak of.
Well there you go now I have something else I can play around with.

Very nice,.. how is it in low light conditions?
Great as long as your outside! I still haven't figured out how to get good low light pics inside, everything looks dark and grainy. But I'm sure I'll figure it out. All of those shots were on auto, I just had to do some reading, playing and adjusting. It was diffently not an out of the box point and shoot, but who knows someone could have been playing with it in the store.

does anyone know if they changed something on image shack? I can't seem to transfer pics to the forum!

Hey, does anyone know of any good spots to fish near Aspen Beach on Gull Lake. Not looking to fish Gull Lake itself, but hoping there's some good streams nearby. Heading out there for May Long weekend.
I would be chucking big streamers on Gull if it was me. My uncle has a cabin on that lake and every year he's pulling out some monster pike!

I am with brownsbask except I prefer to wear mine all the time, especially in traffic when the snow is melting on the edge of the deerfoot. It is absolutely amazing how they take the glare away!!!
Canadensis: Spend some more time on the bow and you too will be rewarded... these are not fish tales. The Bow is world renowned for a reason. (I did appreciate the humor though!)
If you can't afford to get two sets (eeee prescription glasses = flat bank account) I'd probaly focus on what your going to use them for the most. If you can wear contacts I would probaly go that route. Because then you can look at frames like monster dogs, gas cans, straight jackets.... With these frames you can switch out the len's with ease, plus you can buy the lenses for 60 to 70 bucks!!

The ultimate Green Butt Skunk collection has a facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1377...id=242752276546
called "101 Green Butt Skunks"
just a couple there, hahahaha. I've actually seen that before, I'm pretty sure there's a book with all the flies and recipes.

Check these out
Those are some nice variations.

I am looking to replace the crappy old plastic bed liner on a '97 F250. Wanna buy or build a plywood liner. Anybody know where to get plans for, or a kit for a plywood liner????
If you call any oilfield company they should be able to point you in the right direction. Most of them install the wood boxes to protect them from subs and other equipment.

i can't be the only one that finds it funny that there are 8 people with fish over 30", yet not a single picture. I guess everyone has a brain aneurysm when trying to get the camera to work when the fish is 30" or over!
I know I'd be a mess! hahahaha

Thanks guys!

IMO,your still gonna slide around.New felt is what you want.
I'd have to agree, plus it's getting time to throw the studs back in the box. What type of boots do you have, you can re-sole quite a few brands!

i like to make sure there is a bit of materials covering the hook area. The jtube help keep the fly level with unweighted eyes and stops the hook from doubling over and catching the line.
does it hold the fly solidly or is it suppose to be held with minimal friction? Thanks for answering!

What is the deal with junction tube? are you suppose to be putting this on your tubes? it seems to me that it would lock your trailer hook into tube so what is the point in using a tube? Also how far back should I back should I should I be running the materials to the butt of the tube? Any help would be appreciated.
