  1. Some do stay in the river, but the rest should be starting to filter down fairly soon.
  2. I'm actually not going there for a fishing trip, I'm going there to work. So I usaully bring my stuff and tie flies when I'm done work. A month is as long time to go without anything to do!
  3. Thanks for the info guy's, I think I'll just take Lady strange's advice and call first.
  4. Ya I already Google'd it, but I can't find anything on packaged feathers and furs. I Know flying to the States you can bring your things across if it's in a company package, ie. H&H, Super fly, Whiting.... My computer wont open up the second link ethier for some reason. I just figured maybe someone on the board has gone over fishing and would have some insight.
  5. Does anyone know if there is any restrictions on bringing certain materials in to Australia?

Probably the smarter way to go! Eventually you'll own 73 rods and only use two, might as well start diversifying now.
  7. Very nice. Thats sweet picture quality for a camara!
  8. Ya I agree 100% I was thinkinh the same thing! Thats for all the help.
  9. This that fly! I'm not sure if it worked, I kept clicking the "insert: YouTube Video" header and nothing was working. So I just copied and pasted.
  10. If you can explain to me how to do a you tube link I'll post it tomorrow!

I wouldn't chop two feet off, but a an inch past your leader would do fine. Just pull out 5-10 ft of line and hang it to dry for a couple day's before you tie and seal!

If you didn't seal the line after you tied your nail knot it could just be water logged!
  13. I think I'm going to try it, it made a sweet looking fly. how wide are you making the base with your Amherst? I would assume that the two tail feathers would act similar when it comes to wrapping them.
  14. I was watching on line and saw someone using pheasant tail as a hackle! Does anyone know how he would have split the tail feather? Does it pull apart like Rhea or would he have had to cut it?
  15. mulling over the thought of fabing up a boat.
  16. Does anyone know if you can rent a tig welder in the city?
  17. A little young to be tying boobies don't you think,
  18. Who cares if it's cruel. I can pretty much guarantee they don't have pitty on the crews that they're hijacking. What they need is Pirate seeking missile's.
  19. It's a horrible situation I hope they come up with something soon. I wonder how much of an effect this will have on all off-shore drilling in the future? I could really see them shutting it down in the Gulf for quite awhile!
  20. I second that! however I need one hot day so I can mow my lawn before I start to lose my kids in it!
  21. I'd go on the later date, better dry fishing.
  22. I can help you with the buck tail end of things. If you don't need the leather to be supple then all you have to do is nail it to a piece of ply wood. once it's good and tight you need to flesh it out, there can not be any meat or tissue left on it. then just apply some coarse salt to the hide. When the salt is saturated knock it off and apply a fresh coat. Continue to do this till the salt isn't absorbing any more. It usually takes 3-5 coats.
  23. Thats surprizing, I think I'll try that this fall. Expanding on this, have you ever tried tanning a hide before? I know you can send them to Edmonton, but I've heard you never get your actual hide back. We use to use a guy in Strathmore, but I think he closed shop.
