Well looks like I'll give this a try and tell you point blank..it is a coyote m8, NOT a Lynx..take a look at the pics I've posted..see..NO Tail..and to say it is a Cougar, well if you seen one, you can call urself real lucky, one of the hardest animals to see in the wild.. ...................the Canadian Lynx............... ......... .........

I too had that problem, but explain why does ur method work when all that has to be done is to use the browse button to use whatever is in ur PC....in my case I had to make mine 5 times, still using the right rules.................Wolfie

By the reads of this thread, the 'locals' know that the ppl involve own the riverbed rights and show their respect accordingly, why is it so hard then for others who perhaps are new to the area to also respect the signs..could it possibly be that by putting up barriers, man 'thinks' that inside that property there is litterly a 'gold mine' of fish, and no one owns fish that is in a river..there is a small creek that I fished in May, and was told by a local that it was fine to fishup stream, however, to drive a bit down stream from where I was to pass completely this one farmer's property...the owner, an older gentleman has had several of his cows either killed or lost cause of 'cut or torn down fences' in the last year or so by fishermen who show no respect to someone's property. And thus has caused a very bad taste in that man's mouth for all fishermen in general...do you blame him..I respect his loss and I for one will not cross that land cause there is plenty of fish up and down the river that will give me a good day. ..however..ignorant fools who mouth off, and try and play tough, usually wind up calming down and saying sorry to me, after they witness what my Wolf has to say to their loud voices... nice to have a companion that sticks up for you...and believe me..I have no qualms in letting her show her dislike to whomever.......................................Wolfie

you call it 'provincial regs'...however, as far as I have been informed it is a 'federal law', which states that on waters that are navigable, there must not be fences crossing the waters, and public access is a 2' water line..as far as private land is concern, it only applies when the land owner owns the land under the water, as when the water shifts it's course...and must produce a deed to said land...............please correct me if I'm wrong...........Wolfie

now how can this method be considered as snagging, when in reality one is reacting to the take of the fish..just like if a fish takes ur fly [as in a stinger it hooks the fish where usually...on the cheek or below the lower jaw..that is considered as snagging, but it is allowed] ..besides it was stated that the fish could not be snagged anywhere on it's body with that type of hook and the method would not work unless that certain circle hook is used....................Wolfie...

Where Is The Enforcement In Alberta?
Wolfie replied to Weedy1's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
got to add my two cents to this thread..all my life and i'm not so young anymore, but all across Canada from one end to the other including wayyyy up north, I've NEVER been checked or asked or even seen a game warden..that is Until the last week in May on the Bow below Fish 22x just past the bridge, and the funny thing is ...I tried to get away from him only cause I had my Wolf with me and didn't want to get into a pissin contest with him...but I got stopped when a family came with 4 dogs and stopped me for a bit.. ...yes there are wardens out in Alberta, ...........................Wolfie -
..here is a pic of a friend of mine, and his 'Bull' in August from BC..as I said already in an earlier post, this river was named for you...

they said on the news yesterday that we only got 50% rain a couple of weeks ago ..so..MN did it again last evening...never rains ..it pours!..Wolfie -
Say onthefly7...a very good river was disclosed to you already, but you will have to excuse the rest of the fishers in Calgary, because as you just said it is their 'provincial fish', I'm out of BC, and never did get excited out of catching bulls, or for that matter chum salmon..BUT..catching the char in it's upper environment, way up in God's Country, and yes Sir...now that is Not a story full of..................just a bit of humour to lighten up this thread and make the Texan guest welcome!....Wolfie ...Bloody hell...just read your post...PeteZahut..and my hat goes off to you...well spoken!!

Really think I'm going to get "stoned" for this post, but this is to build up confidence..weedcatcher I was on the river at the time the 'stone hatch' took place BUT was not fly fishing..I came to the river to try out my brand new Center Pin reel and old faithful Noodle rod..well during those moments, I notice the beginning of action of trout sub surfacing, damn ..NO fly rod in the truck! So .. [and here it comes...OK folks, I'm ready.. let it fly]..went and took out my ultra light spinner, and yepper, had two trout and a Rockie mountain whitefish fall to the silver bullet I was flinging. Right then the water started to boil..I counted 7 fish so close to shore just having a whale of a time sucking in those stone flies..I saw a fly fisherman to my left who just hit the water..called him over to fish the spot I was in cause maybe he could get lucky..NO dice..he tried everything he had but couldn't raise a fish..see m8...even though one might think they can catch fish at any time ..Mother Nature is always in control...I've learnt a very serious lesson when I fished a major river for the first time..always hit a fish store and seek out a local who can help with telling you the type of flies, where to fish, and the technic in catching fish for that water...if you don't ask questions m8..you'll never learn.................Wolfie

well there are tons of them cause in Ontario the fishers are allowed to use the scented ones, as well as in BC, so many 'steel headers' use them. I can even post flies that have bits of Miss Pinkie attached to the back end to entice even more, there are also vids that teach you how to rig them. The idea of the San Yuan worm, and the live earth worm was the incentive to create Miss Pinkie, and why not..for the natural food for most fishes is the living, wiggling worm. ...I can post some links on Youtube if you would like?................Wolfie ...

..now where to begin..it is said that these pink rubber worm like, man made creatures catch Trout/Steelies/Salmon..yippy, says this former BC er, but wait...I'm in Alberta now..right! The Alberta regs say that it is illegal to use scented baits of any kind..OK..rules are rules, I'll give you that and from what I've been told there is a $200.00 attachment to their discuss, if caught using scented baits. ..well, I'm wondering, what if I was to fish Alberta's famous Bow River, with this little 'pink' creature, one without any scent except what it is made out of..and the answer is NO people, one can not get unscented worms in Bass Pro for an example..but I do have a source. ..I would like to hear your opinion on the usage of this proven artificial, considering there are so many videos on 'youtube' pertaining to the Magical Pink Worm, for all types of fishing requirements..for the Fly fisherman, flies tied with extensions of 'pinkie', jigs, for the drifter [one who drifts without floats], for the float fisherman [who uses floats [bobbers] to most], or the incredible Center Pinner [who no one knows about] ..So let's hear your views.. ......................Wolfie

What?? you must be joking right? If I use as my bait a fly, is that not casting a fly to catch fish with? It is the same if I was to use this method, is this not Fly Fishing as well? Tenkara is the traditional Japanese method of fly-fishing, which uses only a rod, line and fly, now tell me this isn't fly fishing.
