  1. So a newfie is driving down the 401 in Toronto listening to the radio when suddenly a warning announcment comes on..

"Attention ladies and gentleman - please be advised that some crazed lunatic is driving down the 401 on the wrong side of the road - this is a very dangerous situation!"

The newfie - swerving wildly back and forth to avoid oncoming traffic - says "GEEZ B'Y.. THERE'S MORE THAN ONE OF EM!!!"

  2. Tell the bears and cougars that all Calgarians are high in nutritional energy and taste really really good! ;)

I'd ask the giraffe "how's the weather up there?" and the horse "why the long face?"

Seriously though I'd probably ask some of the more dangerous/scary animals "Are you REALLY more scared of me than I am of you?"

  3. Flies to tie for most all boxes would be:

    Adams #18

Stonefly nymphs golden and black #6-12

    Prince nymph #14-16

    Hares ear nymph #14-18

    Pheasant tail nymph #14-18

Elk Hair Caddis(tan, light tan, with blue, green, or brown bodies) #14-20

    Caddis Puppae imitations #14-18

San Juan worm (wire wrap) #4-12

Blue winged Olive (dry and nymph) #16-22

Stimulator (yellow and orange bodied ones) #6-10

LeTort or other hopper version #6-10

Midge patterns (dry and nymph) #16-22

    Black Ant #14-18

Clouser minnows and Bow river buggers and various large weighted streamers (Brown, Black, Olive, White,) are some of the best colors. Bull trout streamers 6 inches or more ong, with red on them somewhere. See if the boys will post a pic of the bully streamer they have that looks like a lil' rainbow... those work great, or tie about the same fly like I do but use gold flash, white belly, and brown on top, and a little red flashing around the gill areas.. (looks like a sucker or whitefish and SLAYS 'em)

That outta cover pretty much MOST situations. For the small streams I'd be using a hopper / nymph combo.. so make sure most of the nymphs are beadheads..

Alright Brian.. I literally went and bought 2 each of from your list - checked em off as I found them.

I'm going to hold you to it now!! :P

  4. A couple weeks back I tried swinging nymphs in the dark but really had no idea how to go about it.

So I tied on a small streamer.. casted it straight out, let the current take it down to the bank, and then slowly stripped it back up the bank towards me where I new there was a big riser. He nailed it on the 3rd cast and broke off my 6lb. fluoro almost immediately!

  5. The Bow isn't closed....TL is just shitting us. That may be the only saving grace for us for the first week of vacay if the south country doesn't open up.

In another episode of "somebody always has a worse story than yours"....imagine this.

Couple fly from Ontario to Calgary for 3 week vacation. Rent a motor home, drive to Blairmore to pick up rented quads, go to head up to the FTR and find that they aren't getting their vacation after all. As told by the SRD officer to Mike this morning.

Maybe 9 days of floating the Bow won't be that bad..... :)

Oh brutal!! I'd be a bit on the P.O'd side!
