  1. Hi Clive-= Steve and Betty MacKenzie here from up Lacombe way. We met you out at Paterson Lake about 8-9 or so years ago. Glad to hear you are still in the game!

We were thinking of heading south to Police and Summit as or northern haunts have smoke problems and campgrounds are being used for evacuees. So I would ask if you have any recent intel on these spots to help us decide before making the long drive down that way.

    Cheers

    Steve

  2. Just a heads up for people looking at buying Redington Waders and expecting product support some time in the future. Redington Brand has been taken over by a sporting conglomerate called Far Bank and they no longer offer repair services on waders. Pin hole leaks I can handle but crotch seam leaks can be more difficult to isolate and fix. Far Bank does not offer any repair services if the waders are off warranty. Customer service is not a priority for the corporation. If you buy these waders do so knowing that you wont have any customer support.
  3. Brian R has clearly explained a very good set-up. Its what we use too. Nobody mentioned it but the last bit of line you have after installing a swivel to the end of the leader allows you to go from shallower down to 19-20 feet if necessary by just replacing the last section of line with a new length enabling you to go deeper. A bugger to cast, but in that depth you don't have to get it far from your tube/boat etc.
  4. Same launch - with rent-a-cops to police...
  5. I'm surprised this hasn't come up for discussion? Lacombe County to launch paid parking program at beach and boat launches Mar 6, 2022 | 2:25 PM Visitors to Sandy Point Beach, Sandy Point Boat Launch, and Sunbreaker Cove Boat Launch in Lacombe County will soon be required to pay for parking. Effective May 1, 2022, Lacombe County is launching what officials describe as a quick and easy payment system for parking through HotSpot Parking Inc. “With an increasing amount of people accessing the lake via the beach and boat launches, Lacombe County felt it was the time to implement a payment system for users of these amenities. This will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of these facilities, as well as help provide for future needs,” said Tim Timmons, County Manager for Lacombe County. “HotSpot Parking will be convenient for users and will ensure safe, maintained lake access for all users to enjoy.” Paid parking will be required for anyone to park at the following rates: Sandy Point Beach parking lot ($3/hour or $15 for the day) Sandy Point and Sunbreaker Cove Boat Launches $20/day to launch and park $10 to launch only $10 for additional vehicle parking only with no trailer For 2022, Lacombe County Community Peace Officers and contracted Commissionaires will use a combination of education and parking violation tags to enforce these new requirements. Lacombe County will be setting up signage in all parking lots to direct users to use their mobile devices to pay for parking with HotSpot Parking Inc. http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/images/buttons/quote.gif
  6. Saw them this spring in the Blindman river halfway to Rimbey. They were jumping like little salmon over the weir by the pumping station. They will be up the Blindman as far as they can swim by now.
  7. Missed your PM back this summer.

Hi, I have a couple of things going on next week but I’m interested in the hat if you still want to sell it.  Give me a shout or let me know which day your coming in and maybe we can meet up for a coffee somewhere.  403 281 7537(H) 587 891 1923 (C)

  8. Its gone to a new home. Happy fishing.
  9. I agree with Silver Doctor- it does deserve to be out on the water talking to some trout. I will be willing to trade it for a reel. A 7/8 large arbor, metal construction reel would be a good trade if anyone has one that is surplus to their needs. The tape that is visible is just a wrap of old masking tape on there for some reason. I washed most of it off. The ferrules are all in good shape and are in proper position- as should be with a custom rod. Comes with original hard tube case and rod sock. Have more pix if needed. Will post on the buy sell.
  10. I have inherited a custom built fiberglass rod built for a friend of my father's (both deceased now) in Calgary in 1979 by someone named "Rutherford" who had a business name of Trout Fly? The script on the rod reads- "The Trout Fly" Model 8590-AFTMA 7-8'6". "Cataract" If anyone can shed some light on the builder it would be great to find out some more about. I have not fished with it yet as it is so far removed from what my other rods are.
  11. What a great production Clive. We never made it down this year, but plan to be back in 2016. Love the drone shots!
  12. My wife and I both have them-on a Outcast Prowler and a fishcat. Wouldn't go out without them as we do a lot of indicator fishing and you get an accurate depth reading as well as knowledge about weeds coming up off the bottom. Go for it.
