  1. i think alot of people get into flytying got the artistic/creative side of things and love too get new materials/mediums too create new flies with and what is wrong with that?

This very true in my case. Have tied and boxed more flies than I will need on the Bow for 3+ seasons...and don't get me started on chronomids. Thing is needing them has nothing to do with it for me. As Max said love to get new material, experiment and create new things! Tying for me has gone way past functional use... For me it is that I enjoy both the act of tying and the satisfaction of success on a new pattern.

It's been my experience that tying flies and saving money don't go hand in hand.

X2, again as I am not buying only what I need, but material I want to try out....at the end of the day I still spend less in a month than some works colleagues spend going out for lunch in a week. All about priorities I guess.

  2. Welcome dude. Try fishing the south end of town you may have better results. Not to say there is no fish up north, but more in the south is my understanding.

By what I have seen I think crankbaiters are looked down upon here but w/e.

Fishin' is fishin' man! As long as you are following the rules and proper etiquette it is your choice how ya land them!

Just my opinion though, give that fly gear sometime. Once you get it you won't be disappointed!

  3. Deadly setup, well done!!!!

Don, I'd give up on the Fishing Buddy, and get a low end unit like the one in my picture. I keep mine in the saddle bag between trips, and it takes me about a minute to hook it up to the gel cell and mount the transducer. I attach the transducer to the bottom of the pontoon seat, using a rare earth magnet.

Keith - I've had the Cuda 168 for about 5 years, and it works great as a pontoon or float tube sonar. I've got a jazzier (i.e. more pixels, more power) version (Eagle Fishmark 480) for my fishing boat, but you can't beat the small low end Eagles. Most sonars also do surface temperature, since the thermocouple is in the transducer. The depth capability depends on the power -- in the case of the Cuda 168, it's supposed to be good to 600'. Can't say that I've tried it out at that depth. Terry

  4. I have been quite impressed with battery life on my fishin' buddy. 3D's and you are good for 8hrs easy. Then I just charge them in the truck over night. Not sure how the kicking from the belly boat might cloud the signal off the transponder (I think thats what they call it). Also agree with the comment above.."I only use it to find the bottom ,temp" This is true for me also, it is just a tool to find drop off's and other structure. If I wanted to stare at a screen all day I would go to work! Big asset when fishing chronomids

  5. 7. At fly tying get togethers you crank out more flies than anyone else. Nobody likes a show off.

    lol, nice!

Sorry no experience on the Nor-vise, but a buddy just picked one up and he loves it.

On another note let me know if you going to put your other vise for sale as I have interest

    cheers

  6. Okay here is mine, love this truck. Nissan Frontier 06'

Bought this sucker new.....I know big loss on the ticket price, but I wanted what I wanted and they were tough to come by used at that time. Almost got her paid for and plan on driving it till I have to grind out the rust on the wheel wells! This will be my bush buggy for as long as the wheels are turning!

Great power out of the V6 while still carrying good fuel Eco

added the canopy and Yak carry box for more gear room.

Plan on adding some swivel spot lights to the roof rack with a rocker switch on the inside.

    Probably a winch some day

  7. Sorry to hear about you experience. Unfortunately A#$holes not matter were you go. Good for you on keeping your cool as I know how difficult that must have been.

Hopefully the karma train runs this guy over!

Again good on ya for showing your son what nature has to offer at such an early age. To many kids are just plugged in these days.

  8. I'm gonna be startin a short term contract in YYC in a couple weeks.

Will a streamer & nymph rig along with neo wader get me thru Dec & Jan.

Spikes can also be handy on the safety end. either korker inserts (if you have those boots) or the ones that wrap around your boot.

    Tighlines! Love winter fishin'

  9. Our cat is fixed so he won't spray like that, it's not inevitable.

I like to think of myself as a responsible pet owner, to be clear if a prospective land lord asked me for an deposit of some kind to cover the possibility I wouldn't have an issue. Increasing the rent regardless in just taking advantage.

I agree with you "responsible pet owner" almost any animal will do damage if not taken care of properly. Whether dog, cat, bird etc.

I also do not envy LL. People on there own without pets can do enough damage.

I too am a cat owner and have never had an issue with our guy. I own now but when I did rent I also approached the concerned LL the same way as you have mentioned. Damage deposit is $750...what will satisfy you..$1500?? I told him whatever within reason as I new the money would be returned when I moved out as there would be no problems.

overall not an easy task to rent and be a pet owner. My thoughts... a jacked rent is a rip!

  10. That is why the Korkers are so good you change to the hiking soles and don't ruin you felts hiking in..

They have different soles for what ever you want to do..

Korkers.com is the site. I have hiked to several lakes and miles +++++++++++++++++++ of streams and they are great.. I did kill one set of BOA laces, called Korkers and got a free set sent and a replacement set is $8.00 , carry a set with me ..

Totally agree, I am sold on Korkers. Spikes with rubber for the winter (no platform snow shoes), felt, felt with spikes, tread for alpine lake walks. I will be getting the Vibram inserst shortly as my felt is on the way out.

I have however blown out a pair of laces too, but no big deal for how often I hit the water. You can go up one more model to the wire laces if you like.

as for models I destroyed my cross current korkers in one season (lowest end), again though heavy use. Moved up to the streamborn boots 1yr not lick of wear besides the laces.

great part about the whole thing is as I wear the boot out through use, the different inserts felt/spikes etc can be used on your new pair.
