A fly fisherman's worst nightmare is when he dies his wife sells his gear for what he told her it's worth.
Hilarious

I always chuckle when I see people loading 3 flats of water onto there shopping kart... looks like someone forgot to tell them that is comes free (almost) out of the fricken tap.
Then there's the " it tastes different comment" crap. Unless you are living rural pulling your drinking water from a well.

Only two 9.6' in my line up at this point. By choice they would have been 10' but deals presented themselves. Love the longer sticks. Only time I myself prefer something shorter when tossing drys from the boat. Other than that I see nothing but benifits

Ahlstrom Air - Nordegg - only way to go!
Great experience and much lower cost than some of the others. I believe we paid $1600 for the whole bird, 4 guys and as much gear (beer) we could fit.
Some of the others charge per passenger + $1.50/lb gear (beer).....you can imagine how quick the cost gets up there...

I'm gettin' ready, I got some slime line comin'. Rio Aqualux Lake. Any good?
Friggin' lakes
I am a Rio fan...but I have had serious trouble with this line in cool conditions. Major memory and coil. Now I am talking April and Oct, however this is some key lake time for me anyway. Once it gets a little warmer it performs fine...like I said I am a fan...but disapointed on this one..
Looks like they have a new one "camolux" for 2011, same sink rate, but different taper. Maybe they have improved the performance.

Welcome!
I too am a huge stillwater east kootenay fan. I live in Calgary but make sure to hit it in the spring and fall...deadly

Love this pattern. I too tie it with the just the red bead, primarly for lakes though, additional bead would be helpful on the river for weight though.
Got a great tip off Phil R sight which I use on this pattern. Take an old tooth brush, remove the brissells and glue on in there place the rough side of a piece of velcro. Awesome tool for pulling out the dubbing while causing no damage to thread or wire

Have a Demon rod and reel setup, love it.
Harris Sportsmail has been great to me on my purchases.
No issues so far with the cartrige system on the reel, really well made and designed
It would be great if they were still made in the UK, but there it is..the way of the world these days.

I like the idea as well of not having to constantly scroll and zoom in to read posts on the iphone.

nokian vatiiva are another one to look at - available only at Kal Tire and not cheap but i've used them for a few years now
Have had the Nokian for 55K km now on my frontier., not an issue... they ride nice and handle all conditions well. They come with a 80K warranty. I myself have been very please with the service as Kaltire 42ave.
Blew two of the factory BF Goodrich (long trail my ass) the first 2 months I had the truck and ta boot through the side wall so could not be repaired. They were completly worn by 45k KM.

not suprised..probably the last place I would go for fly gear. mind you I am in the bermuda triagle of fly shops so making the trip up north even with good service might be difficult.
Main reason for my post....just got that Hard Demmon reel you speak of and love it! Spool system is great. They seem to be hard to find locally. I took the risk and ordered online, very pleased. If you can't find one local drop me a PM and you can check out mine before ordering online.
Cheers, James

Well its finally gonna happen. Lol. I have beer league softball on Sundays and when the Bow opens up again next week I will hit up the bo by shouldice for an attempt to fly with one of my buddies who know how to very well. Might be runoff so I'm planning on using streamers on the banks, maybe a B. River Bugger? Anyways I was wondering whats the best bet for line size? Looking at the fly size to line recommendations it looks like 5wt is a safe choice. Any advice on this as I wont have a few rods until I get down the basics. Anyone have any recommendations up by shouldice? I think I know of some overhanging trees on the park side that might be prime.
Wish me luck cuz I am gonna need it.
Hey man, I would go with a 6wt if I could only choose one rod. Good for streamers and nymphing. Your right about run off a comin'!
I myself have not fished the NW, but have the understanding the river fish's better Glenmore south
tightlines!
