B.C er's, Alberten's, Saskabushyins, Ontarin's.......sigh... it is too bad we could just not all be CANADIANS!
-
Great read. I just had two twin girls arrive this week..... Can't wait to show them the way....
-
with a crossover use to small streams in mind, I myself would opt for a 4wt 9' in brand of your preference and casting style. I have a TFO Finesse which I am very pleased with.

1st one
love the mag, keep up the great work!
-
I think the retrieve has a lot to do with this as well
This is my understanding as well. You don't ever want to fish them static, always want to keep them on the move.
I have had a number of fish on them this year with no issues as of yet....if I do notice a trend as you mentioned Don I would definately discontinue use, not worth it.
Cheers,
James

fish cat kick boats are a great way to fish smaller water. I have had one for years with no trouble, love being able to swing fish right between my legs for release. I do reccomend picking up some spare valves to keep in the pockets. I have had some slow leaks, not a major concern but best to be prepared. Most likely do to me putting to much pressure in them. Fishcats I believe run about $160, extra valves $5. My opinion you can't go wrong. You can pay more for one but at that point like Uberfly said you may as well go to a pontoon.

preshaped booby eyes rainys
Ya that's what I buy...damn expensive but they look great.
-
Nice! Huge fan of boobies...been actually having some great success with them this year
......all jokes aside I think floating flies are a must have in the box for stillwaters. Took one a floating backswimmer fished on a fullsink last trip out to the lake.
Did you buy the boobies ready to go or did you cut foam to shape?

Stopped in at Ogden, maybe 24" of vis, not to bad at all
-
"fines could be up to $750"
wow...a whole $750???
pathetic, up it to 25k and some jail time and you'd see less of it.
I too thought $750 was mild for this kind of behavior +$2000 sounds more reasonable to me.

Nice new stick man! Great fish too...spring has been good to ya
Lets hook up this week for an eveing fish
-
Happy birthday Mike....crab for dinner by chance?
-
thx,I will most likely hike up with it already inflated.
I would reccomend bringing a pump. As noted elevation as well as when you put it in a cold lake you can lose pressure. Not that it would be enough to cause a real problem but it is nice to have a ridged boat
Edit: I took from your comment you where going to leave the pump in the truck..thinking I may have misunderstood you
-
Right on dude! Glad the river has been good to ya.

Member Scorpiondeathlock bought a pair of grip/springs that go over your boot, maybe he could comment on how well they work??
I use Korkers boots with the 7mil spike/rubber sole, in the winter they are a must for me.....my wife picked them up after I took an interesting tumble off an ice shelf....guess she is not tired of me just yet..

I have been very happy with my FishCat, cougar model. 9' pontoons . This model has two separate pontoons on each side, so if one goes down...you don't you if know what I mean. This has proven to be a handy feature to say the least.
Other thing to consider is weight/rust.....mine has a aluminum frame as opposed to steel. This obviously makes it lighter and it will not rust. My wife however does have a steel frame, bit heavier, little bit of rust...but not a big deal.
You may see some boats that attach the pontoons with straps that go all the way around the pontoon. Fishcats use D-rings attached to the pontoon skin on the side which you use tie straps to secure to the frame. Better system in my opinion.
I believe most boats you find will assemble quite easy with metal pins
also consider the rear cargo deck...mesh hanger vs steel plate....obviously a still plate is going to hold you cooler better.
Last thoughts would be more for lake fishing, do you need motor mount for an electric, anchor pully system? Something to keep in mind.
Check back on the trading post as I think someone was selling a pontoon off.
Which ever brand you go with you won't be sorry. Great little boats for when you are going solo or with a group.
cheers

Nice fish Andy!

Do grayling take standard trout flies or do I need to tie up different box?
in my experience your standard trout flys will be just fine. Grayling are an great dry fly spcecies, they are eager to rise!
-
that is exactly what I do

Our government relys on guys like you to just `roll over`when they introduce bogus laws like the boating license. I bet you figure all new laws must be good, right?
Last time I checked driving a jet ski or house boat drunk in the Shuswap was illegal, even before the boaters license. Gotta love the governent to impose new, redundant, overlapping rules when enforcement of existing laws has always been the problem.
If you think that the boaters license will even reduce the problem of drunkard boaters at the busy lakes then I guess you will deem it as a success. Keep your head firmly planted in the sand, as the Government will do what is in your best interest!
I here ya man, did not say it would be effective....just what I heard was the focus. Totally agree about enforcement...they spend money talking about creating new ones when the should spend it enforcing the existing!
-
Right on Dude, Congrats! I have twin girls on the way myself.
-
It was my understanding this law was primarly put into place for Sea-doo's as there speed and often the pin heads driving can be a deadly conbination. They can't say they are just for Sea-doo's so they must say 12' and under......doubt they are targeting the guy trolling spoons with a 4hp. Not that you could not do some damage with 70' house boat!!
Either way the test is online and pretty cheap....not that I have bothered myself
-
Gonna give the stillwater more of a go this year, put these couple together to see what happens.
Pic is elongated for some reason, can't figure it out
Nice line up. Every tried tying those dragons with foam boobie eyes? Makes for an interesting presentation

I am no pro...but I fish the method that is most likely to catch fish at any given time...is dry fly the way I most enjoy catching fish..ABSOLUTELY!
So in answer to your question...I find it "uncouth" to swing a stick around all day and not catch a fish.

Agree 100% with this statement, but home province should not determine who pays and who does not.
I would gladly pay $100 annually for classified water in B.C and would support the same in Alberta. Again with the expectation of having my license checked more than 1 a year!! More CO`s on the beat man.
At the end of the day I strongly disagree with the fact B.C targets Alberta anglers with this large fee...and feel a specific injustice to Alberta residents with properties owned in B.C (even though I am not one of them) as they pay an annual BC tax bill.
Bottom line for me is, although I feel it is unfair, $20 to fish those waters is worth it x10....the quality of the fishery and surroundings is amazing!. I paid $7.50 for a pint the other day...nearly fell of my chair!!(ya ya call me cheap but I am a Co-op gold guy)
My main issue is the attitude I get from a great number of B.C anglers just because I leave across an imaginary line.....back to my previous statement. WE ARE CANADIANS...and I am proud of it.
