  1. Hi Fellow fishers, I recently bought at a yard sale an antique tackle box. Several fly and spin items were in it. I am looking for some info on the items if anyone can help. I have 2 Zenith english gut leaders, still in the package, made by Allcocks of Reditch England. I also have a pack of Allcocks Marvel Leader NO 8056 single selected spanish gut leader in the pack. Also a variety of AA trout flies from redditch england. Any info would be appreciated. Going to hit the Bow tomorrow with my wife. Lookout fish here we come!!!

Not with that stuff I hope..

Hold on until you find out the rarity of the flies and leader..

not worried about how much they cost, just that they maybe one of a kind flies, and the leader stuff my not be in any shape to fish.

    Post Photos ?

  2. WOW, i live along a creek. i hop i dont get whacked lol. I like to see these things happen to large corporations instead of individuals.

    Individual Developers are fair game!!

Individuals who take advantage of the development that weak governments, municipality's and environmental agencies allow to happen, well restricted season maybe..

I would love to live along a creek as long as it did not negatively impact the creek or wet lands..maybe near or in near safe proximity is a better term, and I mean safe for the creek.

  3. River Run development is not going as planned...

    Today's Lethbridge Herald.

Mike is a TU member and "retired" journalist. He owns that sweet cabin near the Burmis TU lease.

Man I just hope they put good dirt over it and turn it back to what it should have been left as, "GREEN SPACE"

and that the developers get knocked in the head with an Atlantic Salmon PRIEST, and anybody that tries to develop along any river gets the same treatment....

    Greedy Barstools...

  4. I never had any luck elk hunting, tried it for many years.I was always in the wrong spot or there was always too many other hunters. The only time i saw a legal bull was when i had a cow moose tag and the only time i saw a cow moose was when i was elk hunting.

Now i just go buy a couple hundred dollars of meat in November and call it good.I fish with the rest of the money i saved.

I wish you guys good luck in filling your tags.

    T

I am getting the same way, WAY TOO DAMN OLD TO BE FOLLOWING MY LONG LEGGED SON!!

But love the time with him, Safeway Elk is looking better and better, but and there is always a but, as long as the kid will have me around I will go out with him hunting Fly fishing etc..

Man should not type and drink Red wine, showing my soft side, and no TACO it ain't my pot belly or my AZZ..

  5. Which season did you get Ray?

Best bet is after a major snowfall or extreme cold in the "special area".

If you need some more land to hunt I may be able to provide some leads depending on which side you are

B side, early season, just going for Cow, and scouting for Bull next year..

IF that is the side you are talking about Let's move it to PM, so TACO don't Poach it!!

    HAHAHA

  6. Do you guys need a third? Is that possible to have a guest on your tag?

If not, and you guys want to do it as a father-son team only, let me know if you would like to go next yr.

    Best of luck too!

    Adam

Yeah Father son for his first Elk..

Not possible to have guest on tag..

This is for Cow Elk.. They ain't easy..

Next year his Pri is high enough for Bull..

  7. So.....im in the search for a new vise. I now have a regal and a rensetti apprentice. I want a good rotary vise and have been searching the net for videos and reviews and still cant make a decision. I like the nor vise but also am looking at the barracuda and mongoose but still not sure. So lets hear some good advise all u experienced tyers. $3-350 max. Thanks peeps. I tie a lot of bigger flies also so would like something that will hold some bigger hooks for makos and blue dogs(shark) maybe like 4/0-6/0 but i know thats pushin it unless u buy the optional jaws for some. Thanks again. tight lines..........................................

Go to the Nor-vise web site and check out the jaws and the holding power, Norm has a large salt water set of jaws and there is or was a sale at J Stockard on the Nor-vise sys..

  8. Hi Flyfishfairwx,

No sliding - promise. We conducted a reader study a couple years back and the main message we got back with regards to the editorial content was fairly clear - Don't Change A Thing. With that in mind the other message that we got was "Can you give us just a little bit of destination?". So we thought the best way to handle this without completely vacating our core editorial values would be to produce a fifth issue which focus would be 100% destination based - BUT done our way. Derek (Editor) has written an editorial for Stream Lines in the Special Issue that will cover all of what we are doing with this issue.

Not to worry your regular issues will be as reliable as always.

    Cheers!

    Chris

    Thanks Chris

For a bit there I thought that I was loosing the best Canadian Fly Fishing magazine to the evils of fish this fly this place and you will be as good as I am, and damn the environment that you are in or that the fish have to live in , just get your fish, type of thinking ..

I just knew that I could trust you all to do it right!!!

That whole damn me first and me only mentality bugs me, I am not saying do not do destinations pieces just do them from the right perspective..

All in all look forward to the issue.

PS Thanks for taking the TU Currents on board, good man you!!! It is a worthy organization.

  9. I thought that Fly Fusion was not a "Destination" type of mag..

Is this a slide to the Can_dian F_y F_shier type of magazine, report about place that can ill afford the publicity and damn the environment of the place.

Or will it be done in the Fly Fusion style , still with concern for the location and the realities of the resource which is the fish, I do not care how many guides get paid or how well a Lodge does in a year, it is the reason that we all fish that is the only concern and that is the fish.

I voted left, due to when a place gets loved to death that is what happens to the fishing and location..

Yesterday I picked up a large Tim Hortons cup 75 Km from the closest Timmies and it was on a spot that the land owner asked people not to park..

  10. I specially like sharin' with others about how big the tomaters get when you fertilize w/brook trout

I think that is a chargeable offense there TACO, :masterbaiter: letting the flesh of a game fish go to waste, who lives in Claresholm just in case any CO's are reading this..

Brook Trout - introduced, hardy and took advantage of good waters not used by lazy Western Native trout species (had to word that one carefully)

    <--poke--<

  11. On the river share, even your fishing spot, and second to last best fly of the day, share your knowledge and experiences with those that ask politely and even with those that are too shy to know that they should ask, and those that need to ask.

Share even with those that are too damn dumb to ask politely, or who start off rude and uneducated, Share and educate them, they may almost need it most.

Share most with those that do need it most and do not even know what it is that they need.

If I did not believe in sharing information and helping others when on the water, then I may not give this as much support as I have and can..

From the people that you share with you get more back and the people that http://projecthealingwaters.ca/ shares with will give you back more then you can imagine, give give give, share share share with these people and you will receive receive receive ...

But share on a web site or in a magazine - secrets NO DAMN WAY!!!!!!

I do write a Front Page for a web site, but and there is always a but, that one is a UK based site... http://www.sexyloops.com/index.shtml

You may note that I write the Friday Front Page, that is because I Fish the rest of the week and recover and tye flies on the weekend when the Web site driven, drooling, knuckle dragging wader hatch happens on the rivers ..
