Wow, I what’s up with that. Secure the Bow of the boat to a tree on the shore before you try to move it off the rocks. What is the “Calgary” Fire Department boat doing here in the first place, isn’t this outside the city limits? Are they now responsible for property recovery? IMHO if the Fire Department is having trouble finding places to cut their 122 Million dollar budget this boat is the first place to start.
That's the Foothills Fire Dept boat, not CFD

Did they seriously think they could manhandle a half submerged boat into the launch like that? Wow...Where the hell is the anchor to the shore using ferry angle to do it for you? They obviously need to re-read their swiftwater rescue manual

Good intentions but lack of knowledge by the Foothills Fire Department. When I spoke to them they seemed full of confidence the boat would be found with no problem.
Where was the owner? Nowhere to be seen!
Curious why the fire dept took it upon themselves to remove it. In 3-4 more days, it would be dry on the rocks, easily bucketed and towed from the lot with little damage. How about now? Hoping for the best.
Amazes me how how lucky people are on the Bow . Anywhere else when a boat sinks, it’s usually in the news since someone died with it.

Seems that It’s work for work on the gas plant further north on the big hill. lots of work on the plant and some of the pipeline infrastructure around it.
We followed three Graham construction trucks out of there yesterday, looked busy, starting to have buses too

There’s 8 billion of them in Dewitts Pond. Caught one in the back with a Griffith gnat after raising a bajillion of them

Ah, makes sense. Good luck!

Have you talked to Mel lately? Word on the street is his son is taking it over, so he may be more amenable..?

What float you thinking of? Buddy and I are just going to uber if using 22 or police. It's also ~$20 from 22 to Glenmore, and ~30ish for police to 22, or Police to glen. vs the 55 of a shuttle
obv. wont work out of town, and do lose the nicety of having your truck at the far end (can always shuttle to start the day though). Guy that sits with boat can always get the boat setup and do a bit of fishing while it's shuttled

Most of the barb wire is in place because they don't want their cattle to exit the land. I'll respectfully jump barb wire every day if it's in a road allowance, as that's owned by the Province.
Also, the rec access website is quite helpful to determine who to talk to, as mentioned above, it does make a difference if you just knock and say hello.

Thanks bcubed. Keep the replies coming, friends!-Smitty
Cut over to High River from the Bar U south of Longview and go to the Hitchin Post. I’d say for 20 kids, call ahead

Definitely not. All the major fly shops do lessons, highly recommend Iron Bow and Kevin Peterson

Figured it was more of a sign of this forum dying a prolonged death?

Ive been using my Patagonia Sling for ~5 years, and wouldn't look back. It's been great. It also has the best D-Loop positioning I've seen for a net (i dont carry a net anymore), pretty well lines up exactly like you were wearing a vest.

Its a launch maintenance plan. We'll have to wait and see what the City and AEP do together to get a policemens replacement together... hopefully before the next 'one' nukes policemens again. Mac desperately needs the road upgrades as well as some sort of structure down there to lose the free-for-all that has been happening the last few years, so we'll see!

Looks like a great spot for donating flies. Good luck Lornce. I should really try some of those creeks, never been to any of them

Hahah still not quite there.. suspect he's got it into the code that whenever he updates his site, it automatically posts here.

I think my favorite part, is now we have a Guest posting them..i suspect its deeper then just the user being banned.

I agree, it takes over the feed. Not that there is a whole heck of a lot going on in this forum anymore.. seems like a lot of the effort has moved over to a few FB groups/pages. Seems pretty typical on most forums these days

I’m pretty positive it’s an automatic post that Darren setup when he was still a moderator here..

Calgary Fire Department Bow River Patrols
in General Chat - Fishing Related

It is pretty dumb that they 'patrol' with the boat. It's not like they're out their with their fire trucks roaming the neighbourhoods in the off chance they are needed. It actually made me laugh pretty hard when they complained to CBC about having one of three of their $70k boats parked for one whole day.
edit - love the double tap with operational and capital.. good way to approach it
