This is really radical, some great work dude!

420, not worth it to cruise around and shoot the *hit with people ya haven't seen in a while? If I were in town I'd definitely be checking it out, good times.
-
Ever thought about getting a light spey or switch rod? Something in 5/6 11 foot range is what I find ideal...You can also get some extra distance in the lakes.
-
That casting photo is really dope jksnijders

I'm down with BiggyJ's idea... although, I think a lot of the problem could be fixed through education while obtaining a license.

Worth the call. Everyone should have it on their speed dial. Good on ya Dutchie.

7ft 3x leader with 2-3 section of 4x-6.5x tippet.
I'll go as heavy as I can and go lighter until I find a combination that works with the bug and the fish... certain types of water require different tippets... fast=4x frogwater=7x.
Just generalizations, every run / fish is different.

Found.

Hey all,
Lost a small clear double sided SA dry fly box between southland and Glenmore... probably about 150 flies.
If anyone comes across it... reward will be paid in beer.
Cheers.

If the hatch is going hard and the fish are chowing but not eating your bugs try these.
- I think that size is way more important than colour.
- Figure out what kind of rises they are (emerger v. adult, even try a spent caddis)
- maybe they are eating the odd may fly coming down depending on the consistency of rises.
- different fish can be chowing on different bugs, switch it up.
- Can be good two fish two different sizes of the same bug or two different bugs together.
- the smaller tippet can make all difference.
420- Why swing through rising fish when you can try and get em on the dry!
Hope it helps.

Nikon D3000.
Has a really nice menu that aids beginners in beginning to learn a variety of functions.

Rocks are rocks whether they are wet or dry... try and keep them in the water.
Fished those "english style" bait hooks for a while and had a few nasty hook ups.. Check out the Daiichi 1870's

It is not the responsibility of police officers to know the regulations of rivers and streams in Alberta. At least they asked...and now they know.

Good to hear and good on ya to whoever called it in.
It's easy to interrupt your outing for a brief moment and dial the digits!

Can someone explain why is it that I've seen tons of midges along the shorelines this week but not a single riser? Is all or most of the feeding(any?)taking place subsurface, and would midge nymph/pupa patterns be effective this time of year? Please forgive my ignorance as being relatively new to the area this winter flyfishing bizness is all new to me and my usual early spring/cold water/lethargic fish/east coast tactics aren't producing much in the way of results? The Bow has been kicking my ass this week with only one 18" Brown to show for 5 days/15hrs(?) of angling effort, mostly nymphing stonefly patterns, buggers,SJWs and a variety of small beadheads through the deepest, slowest water I can find.....grrrrrrrrr......
The fish are always feeding on something. They will just turn to what is most abundant / easiest to chow... if your seeing lots of adult midges along the shoreline, chances are there is gunna double that in larvae and pupae sub-surface.
Subsurface midge patterns are good throughout the winter months in a variety of colours that match the naturals. You can even try throwing on a griffiths gnat into you nymphing set up.
Getting to now the Bow can be tricky, changes everyday, it's all about finding out what is working that day and differs from location to location.
Fish aren't always gunna be super deep and super slow this time o' year. If it is a warmer afternoon... trying fishing a little faster water with less depth as the trouts metabolism will increase with increased water temps.

Pop top Chef Boyardee and some Pilsner.... breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Depends on what your fishing.
Boatman patterns ahead or behind a clouser can be productive in the fall.
However, creating another hinge point in set up can make casing more difficult.

http://vimeo.com/34687326 -Some pretty cool footage although it's a little Blair Witch... Day in the life of bear.
When I'm out in the mtns alone... i'm conscious that there might be bears around, but it's the thought of a cougar that really gets me. I've yet to see one, but I have seen some prints in the canyon section of the highwood....
