So another question for ya Toolman, what would be a good reel to pick up? l've read a few posts and the general consent l think is to have a reel two times the size of rod?
-
Very greatfull for the advice from you guys thanks a bunch takes the trial and error out of figuring this new hobbie out. Another question l have would it be recommended to get a reel thats two or three sizes bigger then rod? probably large arbour as well.

Thanks for the link to ebay Jayhad, because i'm also intrested in picking up a spey for fishing lakes for big pike and walleye. l just looked and they dropped the price to a 100bucks a piece now. For that price l think l will grab two as well. For this type of rod, can anyone suggest a set up for the line, l tend to fish for pike and walleye in the 10 to 15ft depth areas the majority of the time. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Thats Curtis McElhinney fly fishin the Bow, the video has been up on the flames website for a couple of months. I thought it was cool he gets out and does some flyfishin as well. I often wonder how many professional sports players flyfish. I can see it now Iginla tossing streamers, Kipper tossing dry fly's, Phaneuf? well he already spends to much time down at the university bar takin home new women every night. So he defenitly needs a new hobbie. Some of the ladys l know call him dirty phaneuf... But what he does on his own time is alright by me as long as he doesnt slip up come game time. Go Flames

I didnt know we were comparing him to scotty bowman? now lets see he has been with teams that all had allstar calibre players so winning cups like he did wasnt that great in my books, as for Sutter thanks for pointing out his stats, Its great to see that every year he brought a team that was down and out for awhile to the playoffs. Example Chicago,San jose, and Calgary. Still a great coach and manager, maybe doesnt have all the fame and rings like Bowman but deserving of one thats forsure. -

Sutter's the man in Calgary, anyone that shoots him down, doesnt know hockey. The man is a great contributing factor to turning this team around, he practicaly took over in every situation like he has done for many teams, and make them a cup contender. l read his bio and l really think he deserves a cup, and so does the team and the fans. Hard pressed to find any better fans then what we have in calgary. GO FLAMES -
Been watchin preseason games and so far so good. The win last night was great, The team looks solid and cant wait for the cup to come home...Go Flames Go

Sirius and Xm, Cd's are the thing of the past for me now, for about 5 years havent bought a cd. Sirius is the better choice out of the two for price and music... 1#Metallica 2#Slipknot 3#ACDC 4#Collective Soul 5#CCR My top 5.. -
Hi everybody, ive been fishing alot and havent had much success for whitefish in the lakes up here in northern alberta. Was wondering if anyone can give me some insight to how to go about catching these whitefish. For the most part the way ive been fishing them is close to the bottom with chronimids, around sand bars. Success is there from time to time but l know this type of fishing isnt really over exposed, to where everyones fishing for them and almost every lake around me has them in it so l would like to get better at this. Any info is appreciated and if anyone gets around the lac la biche area l will show them some great lakes for the toothy critters. Walleye and pike fishing this year has been great...

Bear Attack On The Dogpound
RDevonshire replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Hey all, hope for a full and speedy recovery to that man, l wanted to say a few things about bears, that people arent taking into consideration. l worked seismic for a better part of six years, and have had many encounters with bears of all size. Being in secluded bush where we would get heli into seen lots of them. My most memorable occasion was,, we always worked in groups of 5 most the time in a line so one time buddy of mine was working about 20meters ahead of me and we were just coming off a hill up in the fort stjohn area, l just happened to take a glance ahead and a black bear was a foot behind him, just following sniffin his back pack. So rate away got on the mic and called him sayin he had a black bear rate behind him, now it gets funny, he then replys Rob quit jokin get back to work. Now l say it to him again that if you think im jokin then why dont you stop and have a look. Now it must of took about 3mins before he finally looked and still to this day ive never heard a grown man scream like that. It was screeching loud, the bear freaks out decides to start running towards me now. l was starting to laugh but that changed quickly and just stood my ground, bear got about 10 feet from me full charge and just 90 into the bush after a few choice phrases as loud as l could. Morale of the story is your in its domain and if they want to get ya they will. Oh yeah the bear mace is just pepper for the bears steak. If you ever been sprayed by the stuff you will find that you better hope it doesnt make them more mad then they are. Best bet is stand your ground avoid eye contact choose a couple of choice phrases walk slowly backwards,,,, if that doesnt work throw out the old snicker bar and hope he takes the bait or get ready to stab them in the eyeballs.... Dont be afraid to take a bear awarness course if your going to be doing alot of backpacking, the bell does help but it always seemed to me that its the dinner bell and you supplyed the pepper what a great tourist the bear must think, hahaha, play safe, travel in groups. Oh yeah and remember that a full grown bear can beat the worlds fastest man twice over in a race so if you think your fast guess again....
