  1. I have had a 5/7 on my spey?switch (amundson 3/4) and have been really happy with the performance.

JUst got the sz 1 trout reel to go on my 3wt BVK, and landed a few Bow River bows and a couple browns in the 18-20in range with no trouble (and considerable delight)

Delivery took 10 days - came by mail. Shipping was n/c but they were running a special.

  2. I like fleece gloves with thumb and two fingers (right hand) and thumb and one finger(left) removed. For the same reason that Lornce likes the wool, but with the added advantage that the fingers can be cut off without the rest unravelling. Also, when they get wet they are easily wrung out, and still warm. Also cheap. MEC had em for about $9

I recently started only cutting half way round the finger part, and tucking the end part back into the glove - on real cold days, gave the option of putting the finger back into the tips.

  3. One day a rather inebriated ice fisherman drilled a hole in the ice and peered into the hole and a loud voice said, "There are no fish down there."

He walked several yards away and drilled another hole and peered into the hole and again the voice said, "There's no fish down there."

He then walked about 50 yards away and drilled another hole and again the voice said, "There's no fish down there."

He looked up into the sky and asked, "God, is that you?"

"No, you idiot," the voice said, "it's the rink manager."

  4. Since I got my Amundson WW spey 3/4 16months ago, it has been my only nymphing rig and I use it about 40% of the time for streamers - the other 60% I use my Deer Creek #6 spey.

My one hand rod only sees dries.

I am on the bow about once a week, and it is a rare day not to see others with the spey

  5. Kids were out skiing a week ago, and came across this group, (third one was photo shy, so only pics of two)

the black one came right up to the car. Worrysome that they are so habituated.

Saw the black one last fall in a brief encounter with a grizz- just a little yapping and bouncing. Very neat tho. (until the inevitable idiot drove right up to get a better look)

  6. Look for a unit with a fan in it. In our old house we had a unit without one and in our new one we have the fan. The fan pushes the heat out in to the room making it heat the space better. Personally, I would look for a little bit quieter fan as the one we have now is a little noisy but I don't know if they make different fans or not.

Our fan equiped one was very noisy - until last year when I was cleaning it and noticed a speed switch in the area near the fan motor. It was set on high. at low/ medium hardly any noise, and still kicks out the heat.

  7. Hey guys, right now I'm using 20lb Ridge Line. I love the thickness of it and how good it shoots. But I'm really scared of snagging up and having it break off. So I was thinking about going to a Frog hair or Slick shooter style of line? I curious as to want your guy's experinces are with them. Pro's, con's, likes, dislikes?

I have frog hair (40 lbs) on my 3/4 amundson trout spey and slick shooter (35lb) on the deer creek 5/6. Originally started with the deer creek, and found the slick shooter a little coily in the winter, so thought I would try the frog hair next. Not much to choose between the two. I really like them both, although both are coily in the cold. The frogs hair is noticeably thinner, and as a result, can knot up with the coils a bit easier. It shoots a bit better tho, and I like the feel of the thin. I have not used the ridge line.

Bummer tho if the running line breaks and you loose the head. that could be expensive. send me a PM and we can meet if you want to try these.
