  1. Anyone know if the club is still active or who the contact people are? Thanks
  2. Have been having some good luck fishing the riffles this fall. My question is how far downstream of where the riffles start is still good water to fish. I pretty much jump in right at the riffles or slightly below, some areas turn into deep water but some stay shallow for a long ways, are there still fish in these runs or are the fish generally sitting right where the riffles start.
  3. Hey Clive as to getting wider and shorter and grayer....... " Old trees grow stronger and old rivers grow wilder everyday."
  4. Was down at Janzen's Saturday and kicked up about a 3 foot partial skeleton of what looked like a Sturgeon. Can Sturgeon get passed the Bassano dam and anyone ever heard of them being up that far? Fishing was great there and below the weir yesterday. (Hint) Stonefly and Blood worm.
  5. Read the book this weekend, highly recomend it. Intersting encounters with bears so close to home and great inofmation on the progress to help them since the 1980 incidents. Anyone read any of his other books?
  6. Might have to take that tin foil wrap off your lunch before warmin it up.
  7. We fished this lake hard in the eighties and again for a short time in the nineties, unless you have you probably would not understand that the fish you are catching now are not what this lake is capable of. What Brian is describing about 22-26" fish is what the lake always was like and kick in the odd 26 to 30" in the fall when they were keying on boatman. In the eighties you could bonk 10 and we still had big fish, in the nineties you could bonk 5 and we still had big fish, they are not there anymore. I do not blame the bonkers, the fish that had enough food to get that big have died of old age. I believe it now takes 5 years for them to get close to the magic 20" and then their done. The dead fish in the pond died from winterkill, back in the 80's and 90's if winter was like last years we always had floaters in the spring. The shrimp were the key, they are not there like they were, remember in 2004/2005 you would have to scrape your waders and empty your boots at the end of the day. I remember sweeping out the back of the vehicle after most trips. I believe it was the spring of 2005 i emailed Terry Clayton with my concerns that the shrimp were disapearing, i think we got another 50,000 that year. The fish now are starting to look like every other overstocked lake i have fished (Reesor, Beaver Mines, Beauvis ) where it is hard to catch a rainbow over 10". I fear that if the current stocking continues Bullshead will be like all the rest. All the individuals who worked to get the regs changed did their part to make this lake a quality fishery. The stocking rates have made it a quantity fishery. What i see is that we become blind by the quantity that we catch to realize that it is no longer a quality fishery. The size that we catch here in relation to all the other lakes we catch 10" rainbows also makes us think that this is such a great fishery. It is a good quantiy fishery and not a great quality fishery like it once was.
  8. You will need a BC license.

  11. Sad but i think it will always be a problem. Fished Bullshead last week, walked from the parking lot down the north side half way down the lake. Counted three minnow tubs, 2 night crawler packages and there were power bait stains in a couple of spots. Anyone every see the CO's go any further than the start of the dam?
  12. Great lookin bugs. Havin a little trouble tieing in the legs, do you attach one leg per side one at a time or tie both at the same time. Haven't been able to find a tutorial, guess i'll have to buy the book.
  13. Golf and i thank the gods every time i am out in the elements and away from the crowds.
  14. Best piece of info i ever got. Bought a 4, 6 and 8 lb spool last year should get another year out of them. Used the 4 and 6 for dries on the Bow and Bullshead and worked fine for me. Thanks Dave
  15. After about 5 trips with my Orvis same thing happened to them as Wes pointed out. I am on my fifth tube of aquaseal and i finally have the leaks stopped. Warranty meant sending them to USA to see if they could be fixed(75.00), and if they could not be fixed they would replace them for the cost of shipping. Would not buy Orvis again.
  16. You guys need a fourth

  19. Anyone fish any good rivers near Christina Lake. Will be there for a week in August. Thanks for any info.
  20. Fished Reesor Lake on Sunday. Truly one of the nicest places to fish in Southern Alberta. Use to support fish to 5 pounds and lots of them. Have not caught one over 10 inches in the last five years, trout that is, suckers are doing great tho, catch them up to 20 inches on anything you use. We have been hearing for about five years that they are going to drain the lake, kill the suckers and fix the dam. Anyone from Medicine Hat here of the status of that project.
  21. On the South Saskatchewan near Medicine Hat goldeye are a blast. Nymphing pheasant tail or a prince and dry flyin with a stimulator you can't go wrong. Best spots to find em for me have been near backwater.
