Actually, the BC government reversed their position on this, and you can now buy a CW license at a store even if your basic license was purchsed online (and vise versa). You will need to produce your basic license (however purchased) in order to buy a CW license. And for sure you can buy BC licenses at The Crowsnest Angler. They are also available at the Home Hardware in Blairmore. Terry

I was fishing the Carbondale a week ago, and there was lots of evidence of quads being driven in the river -- i.e. tracks going in, no tracks going out, at least not in the immediate area. I haven't spent a lot of time in BC this summer, but from the time I have been there I didn't see this same kind of ATV environmental abuse. Am I mistaken in this -- i.e. is this kind of stupidity an Alberta thing? Terry

Lightning Distance Calculations
TerryH replied to a topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
It all has to do with the speed of sound. You see the flash at virtually the same instant that it happens, since the speed of light is so fast. The speed of sound varies according to temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity, but under "normal" summer conditions it is around 340 m/s. Therefore, for the sound to travel 1km, it will take 1000/340 = 2.94 s, or around 3 seconds. Terry -

After all the fishing you did this weekend, you should be given 'er hard at work. Anyway, are you looking for porn sites or what? Terry

I'd like to see a summary too. However, since it would be a lot of work to put one together for all entries, and DrBT is probably off fishing like the rest of us, it might be easier if each contestant posted a summary of their own flies. Here's the summary of my entries. Went for a Sunday drive to have a look at how the Crow is making out. Flows almost hit 70 m^3/s yesterday, which is pretty friggin high, considering that the 75th percentile peak flow is in the mid 20's. Anyway, here's some pictures of familiar spots. Xplorer/Lance, my comments were not directed at you and were not made in anger. Like you, I was just giving my 2 cents worth -- I've made similar comments in previous discussions of the topic. We've all got our opinions and I hope we can have a discussion without it getting personal -- it hasn't so far. Terry

The key word for me in this discussion is "sustainable" and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that the way the wilderness is being used in SW Alberta is not sustainable. I think most of us on this board want the same result -- maintaining the beautiful wilderness that is such an important part of our lives and which we hope will be available for our children and our children's children etc. Sadly, what might have worked 50 years ago, maybe 20 years ago, or even 10 years ago, is absolutely not going to work now -- so get over it -- there MUST be major controls on ATV's and random camping or the areas that we enjoy so much will be destroyed -- it's simply a matter of numbers. The reality is that the population of this province is at a level where we simply cannot allow everyone to do want they "want" or what they "have always done." Those of us who have been around for a few years have seen a lot of change happen in our lifetimes, and if you extrapolate things maybe 50 or a 100 years, the picture doesn't look good. Terry

Catch And Release Banned.....

Not sure how this lines up with the EU attitude about clubbing seals to death -- maybe some hypocrisy happening here, but what can you expect from lefties. Terry -
Police Lake Benchmark Fishing Weekend
TerryH replied to dryfly's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
We had fun too although when that cold wind came up, I was wishing I had worn a few more layers of clothing. There was a pretty good turnout -- quite an impressive armada of toons, tubes, and other fishin craft. I'm really optimistic about the future of this lake. It's in a beautiful location, and I can't wait until those feisty 10-11 inchers grow up. They were more than willing to come out and play, and we even managed a few at 14" and one at 16". Adc, I'll email the sheets -- you don't want the originals, they're all covered with fish slime . Terry -
Great pictures. I recognize the spot -- caught a few rockies and bullies there over the years. Terry

Plan A was to arrive on Thursday, but the weather forecast scared us off. We're now onto Plan B, which is to go for the day on Saturday. We'll be in a 12' aluminum boat dubbed "D.T. Angler". Got my sheets ready (thankfully they're anonymous). See y'all tomorrow. Terry -
Well done Clyde -- congratulations. Andy, thanks for all your work -- it's been fun. Terry

If all goes according to plan, my son and I will be getting there on Thursday. Unfortunately we have to leave Saturday afternoon, so will miss the big breakfast. Looking forward to the trip and meeting some more board members. -- it should be fun. Terry PS One4adventure -- my son is 37 so he won't be playing with your nephew -- at least not if the fishing is half decent . -
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, pike food. Great pictures Clive. Terry

Hey Blair, have a great birthday -- hope you can get in some fishin time today. The way you were running around last weekend at the clave and banquet, I'd have pegged you at around 25 not 45 . Terry

Something to consider if you're thinking about buying a BC license online, is that once you buy the main license online, you must buy your daily $20 classified waters permits online as well. That may not convenient or even possible when you're on a fishing trip. Terry

There aren't any cheesy gift shops in the Pass -- those are all in Canmore and Banff. Terry -
Nice pattern Andrew. I'm with you on the choice of thin skin -- muchos easier and more durable than turkey quill and all the other olden days materials. Go with the flow materials wise -- synthetics rule. Terry

I'm not sure what you mean by pollutant, since that term has been totally hijacked by the CO2/carbon/global warming crowd. Terry
