I actually thought they were mountain suckers but they do look a lot like the long-nose. either way, why do so many of you guys get freaked out by suckers?? they are fish just like browns and 'bows. if those suckers had a head like a trout on them you guys would coveting them as the nicest lookng fish in the river is my guess. i'm going to assume these were caught in the spring judging by the awesome colours on that last one. seems like a lot of folks like my sturgeon pics but they are just suckers too. maye its just me but I like all fish, they are all equal to me. my .02 cents worth. later M

hey donnamatrix.... could you say that again but just a little louder?? a couple of my ex's didnt hear that. LOL M

ok here's a couple more sturgeon pics. i couldnt resist.... the first couple are 44 inchers (FL) and then a not so great pic of my biggest to date.... a 54 incher (FL) that I hooked and landed while fishnig alone!! Thats a 9 ft. rod its laying next to. the last one is the tail of the 54 incher. I no longer show any respect to anyone who tells tales of chasing big browns downstream on the bow, LMAO, try a 40 lb sturg solo!!! enjoy!! M

donnamatrix: those are lake sturgeon from the south sask. the fraser has the white sturgeon. M

Of no fault of my own (read: it was all my fault) I broke my fenwick legacy series spinning rod. (hey no snickering) I love this rod, had it forever and cant bare to see it go without seeing if I can get a fix. anyone have experience getting a rod fixed with these guys??? thanks M

man i thought there was no way someone would post a pic of a fish that was bigger than my sturgeon!! brian that mega 'bow is so ridonkulous!!! i dont know how many times i have looked at that pic (pig) on your old site. incredible, oh hey them others arent bad either. man you really can stop the hawgs!! LOL M

nothing wrong/weird about either of these fish IMO. the first one looks like a prime example of a westslope, including the parr like marks and the pinky looking markings. the second just doesnt have many spots, not uncommon in cutts. M

my first show was Duran Duran at the dome. I think I have seen a lot more shows than the average guy having friends that played in bands during my teens and even to this day. I cant pick 1 show or band for sure that is a fave but I have a shortish list of things i remember most........ lollapalooza (year 2), met Flea from the red hot chili peppers not once but twice.... was blown away by soundgarden, i band I dont like, but their live show was incredible. janes addiction in cheney, washington. bad religion, nofx, green day at a community hall in victoria park, calgary. they were literally asking the audience for a place to crash that night. speaking of crashing, dave grohl spent a week on my buddy's couch while he was in a band called scream. oh and of course Gwar!! rod stewart was awesome too!!! oh and mellencamp/cougar/mellencougar, stompin tom, snoop dogg, nirvana..... M

OMG thats the best!! funny to me coz i saw Gowan at calaway park!! M

rickr, thanks for those nice words. I know what you mean. although, i have never considered it a conflict within myself whether or not what I am doing is right. I just cant help myself, the water, the fresh air, the scenery, the company, heck I even enjoy a nice 2 hour drive for some fishing. i am totally addicted to the take, whether it be a rise to my drys or the indie going under or that unmistakable take of a walleye on my jig. fishing is my ultimate escape from everything. sure I have felt guilt over a fish that I had to release due to the regs, that I felt certain was not going to survive, but what i tell myself is that if this fish dies it will make room for another fish to grow bigger and also that dead fish is going to directly feed another fish or group of fishes. for me this was an easy conclusion to come to. it was never a conflict. as long as I know I have done everything in my power to give that fish a chance for survival (outside of putting a hook through its mouth) upon release then its on to the next one. I would like to know how many people on this forum are hunters of big game or birds. great topic Rabbi, im sure a lot of people dont know why they fish and havent thought about it. later M

here's one of mine that looks similar. 15 incher I think they are a different strain of 'bows than what is most common. this is from a river down south. M

thats a nice looking hares ear, way to go!! LOL M -
as much as I love to fish, i do believe that it is inhumane to do what we do to these fish. M

for me, corb lund has a monopoly on fly tying tunes, cant seem to listen to anything else while tying. while driving to a fishing spot, there's no time for music. too much bullshi!!ing and talk of fishing and fish and past fishing trips and future fishing trips and where we should fish and how etc. etc. usually this converstion takes place over a nice, tasty, delicious, welcome to flavour country left handed smoke. if by myself then its just the radio. corb's tunes "the truth comes out" and "little foothills heaven" are great songs about a great province. later M

as silver doctor said "Small things that make a difference after the strike." this has to be the toughest part for newbies and for trying to explain these things to newbies also. night fishng or not, its those words that help you to land the fish. later M

Canadian, i see what youre saying. Glenbow, if I had a cold beer for every time I got to a spot only to find somebody already there..... M
-
in canadian's case I would say that if they were new to flyfishing then you should politely inform and educate them on the unwritten rules and etiquette of flyfishing. it doesnt have to be confrontaional. use some tact and the right approach and it could be that they would have said something like "oh hey sorry about that we didnt realize, we'll move on" why do so many people on this board let people walk all over them on the river and then come on here to complain about this boorish behaviour?? M
-
did you talk to these guys and let them know that this wasnt cool or just let them do it?? M

i believe a buoyant heaving line is also a requirement for pontoons. it has to be of a certain length as does your anchor rope. I think its 50 feet. M
-
missinthebow... a little bristly dont you think???? you havent proven anything about being judgmental about flyfishermen. I didnt say anything about flyfishermen, seems youre being quite judgmental though. I guess i got under your skin in that other thread. its just fishing so relax. M

if youre pumping a fish then you are pumping their stomach. trout dont have "throats". if the tube of your pump goes into the sphincter in the back of their mouth then you are entering the stomach of the fish. fish swallow food directly into their stomachs. M
