Guest Sundancefisher Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Millions of ants on the water...trout were slurping them, ducks were slurping them...not many people catching trout. Anyone see ants elsewhere around Calgary? Quote
fishinhogdaddy Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 A huge ant hatch in the Fairview area last night too. My garden and lawn were full of nesters. Lots of winged and non-winged smaller babes. FHD Quote
ShadyPines Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Same at Northhill Home Depot at 7:30, people were running like it was a hail storm. Quote
alanpaul Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Same at Northhill Home Depot at 7:30, people were running like it was a hail storm. Same at Lk Bonavista...leeches stripped through sipping trout still attracted a few though. Quote
ÜberFly Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Yup same up North... It usually happens around this time of year from what I remember... P Quote
bear27 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Funny I was fishing the racehorse yesterday and there was a hatch there as well Quote
Jayhad Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Yep they coated water up here (NW) as well. I tend to check out ant hills when ever I come accross them in them in the bush, last week every ant hill was chocked full of fliers waiting for the right temp. 420fisherman's yard was over run with them last night Quote
Jeffro Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 It's pretty much a province wide event this time of year. Biggest orgy out there basically. And as usual the males get screwed out of everything Quote
