Westslope Cutties

Recommended Posts

Interesting article. Protect the ares where there are pure strains left , and I beleive that is being done with C and R. Hatchery Cuts should be pure strain which I am not so sure they are.

As for Banff National Park aquatics specialist Charlie Pacas , everything time I read his comments and opinions I shake my head ,as he seems like a radical to me that is bent on trying to have Banff as it was 500 years ago.

Kyle McNeilly is a class act and his knowledge of Alberta fisheries is truly amazing.

I'm goin' out and kill some brookies today if that'll help......

Gotta love cutties.

Banff et al. are going zero fishing in the next 10-15 years. Expect it. The parks want to encourage tourism but only in their own limited vision. They see zero value in fishing. Unfortunately there is no lobby group able to step up and represent the masses.

Fishing of any kind has been on the down swing unless you want to trek and only if those areas are open to hiking or backcountry camping access.

As restrictions continue to build...and without push back from fishermen...10 - 15 years at the most is left until zero fishing is allowed.

I think that with the dramatic growth the flyfishing industry has seen in just the last five years that in 10 to 15 years the push back will be very significant; however with the population growth by that time it might be neccesary. Maybe if the govn't would add the funding to support more CO's in relation to population growth and licences obtained. regulations might enforced better to control the pressure but everyone knows that will NEVER happen because it's not the easy way hmmmmm i wonder if the PC dictatorship will still rule then.
