PERMIT! we dont need no stinking Permit!

Posted

Wish it was me Dean. My buddy just got home yesterday from Mexico. Fish ate a crab pattern and went for a very long run. The permit tipped up on the fly three times before he was hooked. The guide asked to keep the fly :clapping: . My buddy is very satisfied to have landed a permit on his own crab creation. Looks like this permit forgot to get the yellow spot painted on the belly.

Truly amazing fish, congrats to him!

You are correct, the North American term "palometa", is the smaller of the species mentioned. Permit being the larger. The spanish do not identify them this way.

Hint, say "palometa" really fast....You'll know where we north americans developed the name. Maybe from your spanish guide yelling in your ear??

Regards

Dean

The fish actually isn't huge, just a small guide and great picture angle (pictures are deceiving). The fish was around 12-14lb but he did see a school of 25lbers
