Buck Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Thinking it might be useful to have one of these once I get my U-Boat, just wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations??? Thanks! Quote
fishinhogdaddy Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Where I fish, the rod would end up in the drink. Holding a $400 fishing rod is preferable than watching in sink to the bottom once a large fish has struck like a truck. Just me though. FHD Quote
Tungsten Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I have one that i made works well.I also have one that says fisherman's caddy on it but i can't find it on the web.Its similar to this one link a must have for hands free trolling. Quote
duanec Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 i have a scotty fly rod holder that's intended to be a deck or side mount...i fashioned a 'mounting plate' & added some straps and use it whenever i boat. i think berkely makes a similar one too. haven't seen it myself. last night at wholesale sports i saw another one that has straps and a curved base that's designed specifically for tubes/pontoons. like 30 bucks. the scotty has a strap that prevents the rod from escaping...it's a pain sometimes but i had a close call once while fiddling w/ something/not paying attention and had a 'truck like' strike. those get the blood pumping for sure. now always bring my holder and use the strap for those 'just gonna set my rod down for a minute' moments as a result.
