headscan Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Saturday evening as I was leaving the Southland dog park area I noticed a spin fisherman fishing from the middle of the pedestrian bridge. I was about to go over and say something to him about it, but then realized that I didn't know if there's anything in the regs about it. I took a quick look at the online regs when I got home but didn't see anything about fishing from bridges being illegal. Anyone know? My main concern is that the fish would have to be hauled up a long distance, then either thrown from the bridge or spend a long time out of water if it was released. That's fine if the fish is being kept and within the size restrictions, but a death sentence otherwise. Quote
darrinhurst Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Yeah, I am not sure if there is anything in the regs about it, but the guy's a tool none the less. Quote
Pipes Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 It makes it even more interesting when you are in your drift boat going under the bridge and having someone cast his line into your boat. Happened to me. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I do believe it is illegal. Now I wonder if its legal to pick him up and toss him off the bridge for being a tool? Quote
Tungsten Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 i cant find anything ,ive only seen signs on hwy's that say no fishing from bridge. Quote
esleech Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 It is possible to play a fish and make your way down to the bank. Off smaller bridges. I know I have fished off a few high banks on the ftr. Just joe montana them straight down...gives em a shot of oxygen. Quote
bhurt Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Mark, This is just about as bad as the jet boater we saw at southland. If it wasn't for the people I was in I might of started chucking rocks for this idoits blant disregare of rules and regulations. As for ishing from a bridge such as southland the only out come I can see is a dead trout. Quote
Weedy1 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 This is what people that are afraid of bears do. Do you think the guy pulling in the fish managed to safely release it on shore? Quote
Teck71 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 judging by the cars in the back ground, Iwould guess the age of the photo as early to mid 60's so my guess is every fish got bonked any ways Quote
