Anyone The Name Of A Creek That Runs Thru Calgary

Recommended Posts

There is a creek I walk with my dog every now and again, it is just to the west of Deerfoot Trail and the train tracks running NS and enters the Bow River just past the Zoo but before the Wier. I traced it on google maps from the entry point on the Bow right up to Country Hills Bvld where it flows between that astro turf driving range and the train tracks.

Can anyone identify it? If so does anyone know if there are fish in it? It is connected to the Bow River.

I know trout unlimited was doing a bit of a project, and I have heard reports of fish being in there. However, there are plenty of obstructions to fish movement, and lots of fertalizer than runs off into it. I think a better question than 'is there fish in it' is: Is it worth fishing. I would have to say that's pretty doubtful. Would be interesting to try though if you wanted to put in the time.

I think that the project by TU was in Airdrie and was to clean up the water way going through the park. TU's stance was that any cleaning of tribs to the bow was positive. I don't think that it was presay to improve fish habit in nose creek... I could be way off base with this though..

Hey guys! I grew up in Harvest Hills and have been up and down nose hill creek and I can tell you to not waste your time. There is some teeny weenies, but as was said above, tons of fertilizer runoff, random junk and pasture runoff. We used to tube down it years ago so maybe its changed but before it was just tons of leeches and really nothing swimming over an inch.
