Guides Around Fernie Bc

Hey All,

 

Just wondering if any of you could give me some insight into good guides for rivers around fernie...looking for good bang for my buck. Also, what rivers would you recommend...late august.

Don't use a guide.

 

They ruined the fishing by advertizing the hell out of it and then whined and complained to many people fished it. They they demanded special regs to tax Albertans $20 a day.

 

Tell em where to plant a fly and start fishing just above them and their clients!

 

Ya...I am ticked.

also agree - a guide is completely unnecessary to fish cuts in the elk valley...lots of excellent walk & wade spots just off the highways.

Brain Nyska (I think that is how it is spelled) owner of Whistler Fly Fish is who you should see for sure dude. Brain is based out of Whistler which I belive is not too far away from Fernie.

Dude 981 km – about 12 hours 20 mins Whistler to Fernie But Brian would be a good contact also Vic at the Crowsnest Angler would be a great person to talk to as he guides in BC.

I certainly agree....guides are definitely not necessary in South East B.C.

There are a couple shops in the area that you could try. The Kootenay Fly Shop has a guide service out of it.

Thanks guys for the replies...Maybe I will just buy a nice 3-4wt rod instead of hiring a guide.

i dont know much about Dave but i do know two of his guides. by reputation only. one of them is very good and he's a local calgary boy
