What Thread do you use to spin deerhair and where do you buy it.

depends on the size of the hook...for anything larger than size 2, i use A+ Monocord by Uni and anything size 2 and smaller, i use just regular 6/0 for good deer hair and 3/0 for crappy hair....

You can also try kevlar or gel spun polyethylene thread if you need something strong for big flies.

I second the use of Kevlar. You can get a few different colours, but I usually use black. Use some old scissors to cut it as it dulls blades.

I like GSP. 200 is a bit thick though.

I have big fly but i dont find it cuts though the deer hair, rather it lies on top and squashes the hairs.
