lonefisher Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 looks sweet could try some with peacock herl with a lime spot in the middle sorta like a lime coachman trude Quote
KnotLikely Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Looks good, I'd tie the wing a bit longer to 1/2 the length of the tail, and like pacres says, size up the hackle, that's just to make it look pretty, as for function, I don't think the fish care, so put that one in the box. Quote
Din Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks guys, will try and find some bigger hackle and lengthen the wing a bit. Quote
TerryH Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Din -- looks pretty good to me. The only thing I'd mention is that one of the advantages of using white calf tail for the wing, which is part of the traditional pattern, is that you can line up the tips using a hair stacker. That gives the fly a nice clean look that the fish totally don't care about . Terry Quote

Terry But is very satisfying to those of us who tie OCD style and ALL HAIRS MUST BE LINED UP......*twitch* I don't think you need to make the wing longer, but another vote for a bigger hackle. Quote
ladystrange Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 i use calfs tail as well. and another vote for longer hackle. great pattern for cutts Quote
fwalsh Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 You could also try White calf body hair as it usually stacks easier than calf tail.........Frank Quote
