Guest bigbadbrent Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 So, heres my 'photo-journal' of the trip. The pics aren't working and i don't know why, so please click the slideshow Wierd, dunno why my images aren't all showing up. I'll put links behind them all so if they dont show up. Heres a slideshow of them, just click that pic The view from the ferry on the way to the island http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160021.jpg First day on the Cowichan, soon after it turned to sunshine and didn't change for the week..This is just downstream of the falls. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160023.jpg One of the only other spey fisherman i saw in my favourite pool. I can tell you that as useful as the spey is, some of the river would have been nice to have a 6 foot long rod, as the entire bank was always having overhanging trees.. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160026.jpg One of me down at Sandy Beach. Cool little area, again hot and sunny, but humid as hell. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160027.jpg Intruder underwater http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160028.jpg Did we finally catch one? Nope, just another rotting salmon. They were absolutely everywhere, some of their heads alone would have weighed a lot http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not.../P216002134.jpg Glen eat your heart out. My first rock fish on the spey http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160036.jpg Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Just some scenery http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160037.jpg My Favourite pool. The only pool that we could find that was really easy access but also a fly-fishers kind of pool. We found a lot of places were absolutely gorgeous looking, but they were on the opposite end of the river, so we had no access. This (like most Island rivers) was a super fast and super deep river. For example, i wouldn't tap bottom until i put my 8' and 12' T14 sinktips together, and then put a large mend into it. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160038.jpg Our normal path would look like this if we were lucky. To put this in perspective, when we first fished i had NO leaks in my waders, in perfect condition. After day 5, i probably had something like a dozen pinholes, and my pants were always wet http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160039.jpg Might as well had been summer http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160041.jpg Our normal routine would be fishing from sunup till lunch, then boot up to subway, eat subway, then back to fishing till dark. Then we'd go to Starbucks, plug the computer in and watch a movie...Here's my starbucks collection on the day i decided i was gonna tie flies there http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/not...ob/P2160043.jpg Quote

Inconnu Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Hey Brent. I grew up fishing the Cowichan. I walked the Anglers Footpath every week and every time we camped out on the May long weekend we inevitably slept under the same huge Cedar tree in a lightening storm.....not so smart in my youth. Thanks for the trip down memory lane....Kerry Quote
