sirocco
Does anyone know of a store here in Calgary that definitely has double edge razor blades for trimming deer hair? I've looked at Michael's, Shoppers Drug Mart, and a few dollar stores with no luck...

sirocco
No I haven't. Do they bend like double edge razor blades?
Castuserraticus
I dismantled a trac 2 razor. With a piece of cardboard and some masking tape I made a double edge. It's been working for years.

cheeler
Check in the knives section of tool stores. My favorite tool for deer hair is an old electric moustache trimmer, works well and I use my rotary vise with it like a lathe.

SilverDoctor
Just saw your post. I use the old double edged blades for trimming deer hair and a number of other tasks. Just used up the last of mine and bought a couple of packs at Wal-Mart in the NE. They where under $2. Hope this helps. You can snap them in half then tape the back with masking tape. Saves the fingies. Be sure to dispose of them by taping the fronts before garbaging. Or
regdunlop
I found some double edged razor blades at Safeway a few months back.
sirocco
Thanks for the replies. They do have them at Safeway and other Grocery stores but they are the gilette brand and cost $1.30 per blade. I checked at the Wal-Mart in the NW and they were out.... so I think I'm just going to buy 100 off of ebay at $0.20 a piece... Thanks for the help! DonAndersen
sirocco, Beware! They are probably chinese crap. They are not sharp! You'd do better to trim your deer hair with a rock. Don
sirocco
Good to know Don, thanks for the heads up!
headscan
Call O'Connor's down on 1st Street SW and see if they still sell Merkur double edged razor blades. They were about $6 for a pack of 10 last time I bought some and they're much higher quality than the ones you find at grocery and drug stores. Since I shave with them I usually buy 10 packs at a time so it's been a while since I bought some there.
vhawk12
I bought some GiIlette ones at Walmart at Northland. They seem to dull pretty quick, but I don't have anything to compare them with.

See: http://www.wilkinson-sword.co.uk/index.php?id=1308 Classic blades. Don They are the best, IMO .. tough to find, try small ma and pa drug/grocery stores or someplace who is more likely to carry "out of date" stock
