reevesr1 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Saw two guys Spey fishing below Cranston today. I was out walking my dog on the Chaparral side (and doing a bit of casting myself) worrying that they may start to potlick my water (I don't know if potlick translates, but I'm sure the meaning is intuitive). Sure can cover water with those bad boys! Looked like fun! Quote
toolman Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 So when are you going to get a Spey rod? Anytime you want to get out and try some Spey casting, just let me know. Quote

No potlicking took place though. Quote
alhuger Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I am afraid to ask what 'pot licking is'...... It sounds, well, a bit dirty. -al Quote
headscan Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Potlicker Not sure what you guys have against the Irish... Quote
bigbowtrout Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Number 6 is the best one 6. potlicker "someone of poor breeding and limited finance look at you sniffing gas you potlicking c***t" Quote
reevesr1 Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 Potlicking from a southern fishing perspective is stealing someones water. It was a reference to the spey casters ability to cast all the way across the river and steal one's run! It was a slight exaggeration! Quote

DanJ Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 You guys do any good? One of the spey casters I saw was wading waist deep. I thought "brrrrrr" Not really - I was thinking of potlicking the run on the other side as it looked a lot nicer... Didn't have my waterwings on though I stayed as shallow as possible - Karl on the other hand has a metabolism to support any depth of wading apparently... Quote
toolman Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 That's a great shot..."Ice fishin' anyone?". The things we sometimes do to catch these bloody trout...and we call sky divers "crazy". Quote
reevesr1 Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 I absolutely love that picture, the line looks like it is glowing. Quote
ogilvie Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I figured Dan would be out there...Man' I hope the water will allow a few of us to cast and fish your waters during the Upcoming FlyFishing Show dates. AS the time draws nearer we could put together a gathering of sorts on the BOW...lets hope??!! Quote
