Hopper/dropper From Shore

Recommended Posts

I typically fly fish from shore on the lower bow. Working the banks from a drift boat with a hopper i'm sure is the ideal position. However, if you are using a Hopper from shore, any tips or reccomendations out there? I would think you would still try to hit the banks casting upstream as well as letting the hopper swing towards shore at the end. Is the Hopper pattern still productive casting away from the banks in middle sections of the river?? Thanks and have a great August on the water!!

riffle sections 1-2 feet deep right next to shore are just as good as long deep grassy banks. Also, I always used to have a lot of luck by identifying a really good hopper bank (west wind would blow hoppers into the river, etc) and fishing ALL the riffles below it in a searching mode. Plenty enough fish will have become accustomed to having the odd snack come by :) Good luck!
