Muffin is correct. At this time of year they take off from their ponds as they dry up.

 

In my previous job as an entomologist would get call all the time about them. People would even bring them to the police thinking they were invading the city.

Ya someone posted a picture on here awhile ago and that is all I know.

 

The plant my dad worked at down around Brooks used to get them as well around this time. Lots of sloughs and such which would dry up and the plant was the brightest thing for miles.
