Mitchell0724 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I just happened to remember about my great great grandpas fly fishing set ups I have. I thought you guys/girls might like to have a look. I have no idea of anything about it all. If anyone has any information on them to share I would be really happy. And what is that big thick peice of bamboo for? It has a hole in the end with grooves so something attaches to it Quote
fishinglibin Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 What a nice keep sake. Love the rods and reels. I would keep it out on display if I had gear like that.I don't have any info on them, just really think they are cool. Enjoy! There are a couple of big collectors of Bamboo rods on FFC, so hopefully you some info. Good Luck 1 Quote
Mitchell0724 Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 It's a wading staff! I never thought of that, it could be but I wonder why there is a grooved hole at the end. It almost makes me think you could attach a gaff hook at the end. I'm sure catch and release was not used a lot back then haha Quote

Muffin Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Very cool pics, I have a couple of my grandpas old fly rods setup by my front entry way. I surrounded it with some plastic fall colored foliage and it looks nice. 1 Quote

I guess a spike must have screwed into that grooved hole I was talking about Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I wonder if Rich (Dutchie) has seen this thread yet. He'd most likely be able to identify everything you have there, and share a bottle of scotch looking over it with you. Drop him a PM I'm sure he'd love to have a peek at it Quote
Toirtis Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 The one rod sock shows "Liverpool" on it, which is a start...I would normally expect a cane rod out of Liverpool to be a Forshaws, but this one does not appear to be. Quote
Mitchell0724 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 I'm going to get pics of every marking I can find, I'll post a few up in an hour or so. I guess it would be hard to identify them with no words haha Quote
