i will second that, the fish have not changed, it is still harder than down south but there are some good times to be had if you dont mind the occasional skunk day. Lots of poachers to call in so keep the phone close. Since we started running it 3 years ago it has been nice and quiet...untill the hundreds of vynals start to hatch off in the sun.

Simplest answer no.... the weir itself has no bearing on where nutrients enter the river.... one of the major contributing factors of this great fishery is the sewage plant at calf robe. There is good food below calf robe, and that's where the fish want to be.

That being said the Bow is decent fishery from bearspaw to WHD, but it is hard to fish from shore.... you always hear of guys fishing from shore up in the NW getting dink rainbows.... that's how it generally is from shore

My Girlfriend is a Biologist working for fisheries Canada, according to her, studies were showing very little fish movement over the weir so all the fish from the weir to Bearspaw were basically trapped and only breeding amongst each other creating a very poor gene pool. By opening up the weir one of the effects is the fish can now easily travel up and down the river, Biologists are expecting the fish quality in this section of the river to improve significantly . However according to her you won't notice and changes for a couple years

P.S. almost forgot. she is also expecting the lower elbow to see improved fish quality as a direct result
