Flytyer Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 This a fly I devised on rainy night this past summer in Newfoundland. A friend did quite well on sea run browns with it. Quote

Flytyer Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 loos like i forgot some sort of calfs tail or polar bear hair as well? No.......craft fur actually........I find it has a few qualities similar to polar bear. I save my polar bear for display flies. Quote

ladystrange Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 why do you only use polar bear hair on display flies? Quote
Flytyer Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 why do you only use polar bear hair on display flies? It's getting pricey and I have it dyed in colours that are not readily available at most places. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 We are lucky to even still get it in this country. You can't in any other. I'm getting low and am tempted to stock a larger amount for futures. Quote

Polor aire is a decent sub for it but it still doesn't have the translucence of the real thing. Quote

Actually I never got a chance to fish at all while out there but a few friends tried out the stuff I was toying with in the evenings. I had tight deadlines to meet so no fishing but it will be different next year, I'll have time then I hope. Quote
