Guest 420FLYFISHIN
Im going through the BC stocking report for the Okanogan area and i have a question of what a Tripoid (AF3N) is? Stated differently than a Trip-L-oid. From what i can read in the report it is a "AF3N - All Female Tripoid (sterile)" but Google brings nothing unfortunately. Are these still monsters just with out the L? "3N - Triploid (sterile)" i also wonder if it is just a typo Thanks
monger
Just a typo. You can have triploid 3N (male and female) or all female triploid AF3N. The males still jack (see secondary sex characteristics) even though triploid. They will only get huge if there is lots of food around. Therefore the stocking density has to be appropriate. DonAndersen
420FLYFISHIN Using the web site below, open it and in the lower right hand corner is a link to a PDF document [ View ourrainbow trout strains etc.] that explains the 2N, 3N and 3NAF process. http://www.gofishbc.com/fish-facts/fish-st...ed-strains.aspx regards, Don
Guest 420FLYFISHIN
The lake in question has more food and stocked yearlings to feed HongKong j/k it was just odd that it was a typo for all the stocking reports but i guess thats what happens when you copy and past gov. reports. Thanks for the clear up.
