Streamer Set Up For The Bow

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have been fishing streamers on the bow quite a bit lately and last year. I have been using a floating line but keep reading that a full sinking line would be better.

Do I need a full sinking line or will a sink tip work?

Thanks

Lance

Sink tip!

X2!

There's very few( if any?)pools/runs/conditions on the Bow that would warrant using a full sinking, and FS is also a real PITA to pick up and recast.

Full sink, and the faster the better. less mending, than a sink tip, also easy to mend in mid air. Fish with a short leader 6" to 18 ". . Take a look at Kelly Gallops videos , their all about sinking flylines and accuracy . Better yet read the book Nymph Fishing for Larger Trout by Charlie Brooks. And stop hitting yourselves in the back of the head with your heavy streamers and nymph rigs. Goodluck

in the summer i would go full sink as the speed your retrieving will pull your streamer to the top even with a sink tip.
