dryfly Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Snow pack at some monitoring sites in the hills is silly high! Wait for it coming soon to a stream near you. Here and here. Quote
Taco Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 No sweat d00de, 30cm of warm June rain, she be gone in 24 hrs à la 1995........ and a few roads, bridges and maybe a dam or two. Quote
dryfly Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Dave Akamina Pass is in Waterton. The snow pack is off the charts at more than 200% of average...850mm water equivalent. or about 28 feet of snow at 1760 meters. It has snowed up high almost daily for weeks. A slow melt will be fine. A fast melt will not be a good thing. Clive Quote

reevesr1 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Check the ski reports. Lots more snow predicted this week. Gotta say, as a skier I've loved this season. But there sure is a load of water coming our way! Quote
Pipestoneflyguy Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 One of the deepest snowpacks I've seen in my 18 years up here in LL Quote
dutchie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 i'v spent the winter doing lots of mountain sledding , you don't have to worry much about the water flow for the summer , the mountains full of snow Quote
trailhead Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 "you don't have to worry much about the water flow for the summer ", Unless it all melts at once as has been said. Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I might want to consider building an ark before June hits with that waterton snowpack. Those mountains just west of me are WHITE... it even LOOKS deep from 35km away. Quote
