Birddog Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Was out pheasant hunting and got a lot of pheasant tails, necks etc. Quote
Leroy Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Here is another problem. I was talking to one of my suppliers and he said dyed saddle hackle is not getting hard to get. It is going to China for "crafty" things. Ear rings is not the big abuser. Hope this does not last long either. Quote
Kristi Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Tinsel wont go far it is not as versatile at the hackle.. unlike the hackle it cant be put under extreme heat and is not as sturdy. It will be to finiky and static will be an issue. I do see a lot of shorter feathers now in hair. not just the long hackle. Funny as it sounds coming from a stylist, yes it is totally frustrating and pissing me off as I can't tye any drys with out it.. ~Kristi Quote
SilverDoctor Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 There was a time that we didn't have long genetic hackle to tie with, just ordinary capes, you just have to sort more. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 i just did an order of 4 dozen caddis and they turned out fine with out any genetic stuff, just a regular cape. Quote
