LynnF Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Got this email from Louise BOW BOTTOM TRAIL TO REOPEN MONDAY, AUGUST 27th, 2007 & CLOSURE OF TEMPORARY BOAT LAUNCH ACCESS VIA SUN VALLEY BOULEVARD Fish Creek Provincial Park would like to advise the local angling community of a return to normal Bow Bottom Trail Access to the Fish Creek Provincial Park Boat Launch on: MONDAY, AUGUST 27th, 2007. Previous access via Sun valley Boulevard around the south end of the Sikome Aquatic Facility will be closed. Previous arrangements regarding official permitted Shuttle and Guiding Access through locked gates will now resume. The return to normal boat launch access is the result of partial completion of the City of Calgary Pine Creek Sewage Line Project and completed upgrades for the Boat Launch Facility Area. These Boat Launch upgrades have included the installation of a double-wide launch, paved parking surface, enlarged/improved parking and traffic separation, educational signage, pathway development and washroom access. The Park would like to thank all users of the Boat Launch for their patience and understanding during this period. Additional Note: Continued work on the Pine Creek Sewage Line parallel to the Boat Launch will result in access through what is normally the exit to the boat launch. The normal entry south of this point will reopen once the sewage line installation is complete. The final element of the work will include installation of directional and regulatory signage this Fall. This work will not affect access to the boat launch. Guest bigbadbrent Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 i never understood them not having the opening on the sunvalley access.... Quote
EdB Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 The guy i talked to said it was because it was like deerfoot 2 inthe park. I asked if there was a way to block it so that peaple couldn't cut across to Deer run and he said no. I'm sure going to miss it. Driving down to Bow Bottom is a real pain in the @ss. Whe nwe gonna hit the river Brent? Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 send me a pm, my fishing days go to crap after the 10th of september..so im up for every and any day.... i personally hate having to drive north, then back south to get into the park, it's a real pain in the ass if you're from south of calgary.....Is hullswood still shut? reevesr1 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I second BBB's comment. If you live in Chaparral, or any of the far SE communities, access through Sikome was just fantastic. Oh well, time to relearn the poop hole, hullswood, etc. Quote
Guest Bobr Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I think they have to open it up now. They are doing all sorts of work beside the Glenmore Bridge. Not sure what's going on but, it looks like they may twin the Glenmore Bridge and that will most likely shut off access to that launch. Anyone know for sure what's up there? Quote
SilverDoctor Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I love the south end also. In the past I would just park in the Sikome lot and walk in. Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 That's my normal course of action Quote
Lundvike Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Coming from the NW that diverting around to the boatlaunch via Lake Sikome was a major pain probably added 15minutes to my trip, very cool that the bow bottom entrance has reopened, but it did seem to limit the amount of pressure in that area of fish creek.
