  1. I have no problem with taking a quick picture and then releasing a fish, however I don't like to see them held by the gill plate or laying on ice, and that applies to any fish. Unfortunately we see it all the time on many fishing shows, where the entire body is being supported by a hand through the gill plate, or both the gill plate and then supporting the rest of the fish between the anal and tail fins. But no matter what an individuals opinions may be it is a blood sport and we are all guilty of causing stress and possible mortality to any fish we hook. I will always try to influence by my actions rather than dumping on someone's handling of a fish that I don't agree with. In the long run it is still my opinion and not everyone will share it.
  2. Thanks Mike, it is Polar Bear.
  3. Primarily for the west coast sea run cutties and anything else that cares to try it out
  4. Just a few of this winters creations for the west coast.
  5. Awesome pictures, and the crib board, well, it's fantastic. I wish I could tie flies as well as you can burn them.
  6. Check out the pleasure craft operators pamphlet used to study for the operators card. It tells you what is legal in Canada.
  7. My wife and I went with Mustang self inflating pfd's and we like them allot. If the cartridge fails to inflate the vest's they can be inflated manually. So far neither of us has needed to inflate them and I hope we never do. It is important to change the cartridges from time to time.

  23. Charging more money is not the answer, all that does is too make it harder and harder for those who don't earn as much, to enjoy the magnificent sport of fishing wether it be fly fishing or spin fishing!!! When I was a child we moved to the UK for five years where everything is private and only the wealthy can enjoy the pleasures of fishing.....It wasn't until we returned home to Canada that my dad could afford to take me fishing.....Lets not have that happen here.....Which is what I was trying to share with the enhancement societies on Vancouver Island, in the classified waters thread.....What it really takes is people who actually give a damn about the fish and their habitat!! And who are willing to donate their time and effort to the enhancement of the fishery. That is definitely not to say that some moneys are not needed, but there are other ways of achieving that without putting it out of reach of the lower income group.
  24. I have three Islanders, one Ross, one old Orvis, and a whole bunch of Hardy's, which are older than a great deal of the people on this forum. They all have seen a tremendous amount of use in both fresh and salt water. All are still in great shape and still in use. None of the newer reels come even close to the Hardy's or the old Orvis, but they do make reasonable back ups. As you can imagine they don't get used much, only the ones with specialty lines on them, because I ran out of spare spools for my Hardys. What a sweet sound those Hardy's make with a fish on . Quiet reels how boring!!!!
