  1. Hello all, I recently left my fly rods on the grass outside of Wholesale sports northside Edmonton ( yea i know it's FFC not FFE ). Looks like someone scooped them up. I blame the fact that we got back there late and I was tired and in a rush packing my gear back into my car. I was hoping someone may have heard about these and could help me out. I'm offering a Cash reward to anyone that can return them. No hard feelings or questions, I just want my rods back. They were as follows just in case someone sees a sale for all of them at once 9' 6 wt TFO Ti 2 Peice 9' 9 wt Superfly 2 Peice 9'6st Gloomis Xperience 4 Peice They were my most prized personal posessions . Feel free to call me at 7 8 0 9 0 9 1 0 3 0 at any time.
  2. I've been using this for walleye. It'a a modded Whitlock floating minnow, with sequin eyes threaded through. I found the googly eyes pop off to quick with fish, but I do like th way they rattle. Fished on a deep 8 full sink like a booby, but longer strips.
  3. Here is my "Intruderish" fly, but it's more a half in half with a trailer. I haven't used it in the Bow, but have used it for Walleye around Edmonton.

Hey all, I found the video: http://www.sfotf.ca/fly-tying/category/web-exclusive. The very one they use on the show.

    The Bulldog

I saw a more recent video of the Bulldog, tied by Don on a recent episode of sfotf. I've got it on VHS, and i'm sure the sfotf.ca site would have it once it's done all the site updates.

  8. Hey all, So since my post, I've gotten some materials from www.thornesmanufacturing.com. I'm pleased to say that it was quite convienent. I ordered a few packs of hungarian, some phesant tail, and thread. I wanted to get beads and mink but they were out of stock. There was, however, a bunch of stuff I didn't order that they thew in. ( not mispacked, as they had bits of paper that said "Complements of TMS". Very quick and convienent. Plus, who doesn't like to get a package to open when they get home from work.
  9. Silver Doctor, Wasn't really looking for anything in perticular. Edmonton doesn't have a great selection of shops other than the usuals (Fishin hole, Wholesale sports). I would really like to find some Mink Zonkers, but other than that, I was just curious what I could get online. If not feathers/fur, I could still get hooks, beads and synthetics online.
  10. Hey all, Trying to find a good online store for materials. I prefer paypal sites because you gotta try to mitigate the risks for Credit Cards. Anyone got any favorites?
  11. Is this why you are looking at a Danvise? What are you currently using?
  12. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/ more specificly http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/beginners/ This is where I kinda got my start and I think it is a great and informative place to start.
  13. Hey Birchy No, i'm TEE and i love my danvise!!! I would suggest it to anyone. Then again, what do I know, it's my first and only true rotary vice. I tell you what though, paying 70 bucks for this vised seems to make even more sense when I use it for tying now.
  14. What fly and rod weight were you using? was it the Kootney blue can fly?
  15. Yoo, I have a fishcat 4 and a 98 Civic HB and I do fine. You can keep it inflated but you'll have to put your seats down.. deflated it will fit in anything about 2x2x3 foot area, which makes it easy to fit two plus all your gear. I keep it deflated and use a electric pump to pump it up. Probabally takes about 3 mintues to setup. I have honkin flippers ( i think they are protecs) that were given to me as a gift. They get you across the water faster , but are tough to walk around in. I think the force fins? ( the ones with the ends pointed up ) are much easier to walk in. I was on a lake with a buddie that has a doughnut and I had my uboat. I was able to out maneuver him in speed and agility. I also didn't have the same problems he did when trying to get in/out of the boat. He was most disheartened by the whole ordeal. I have heard that the doughnuts are much more stable (less tippy) but i haven't had any problems yet. I wear a life preserver beause 25 bucks is nothing if it will save my ass. I'm not sure if this was covered, but i bring a small bike style hand pump with me in one of the pockets. Haven't had to use it yet but I've heard stories about people having to pump thier tubes on the water and just want to be ready. Oh and i've also heard that you should pump them up in the sun, not in the Shade then move into the sun. The bladders expand and contract quite a bit and may burst. Monger, I've been looking for an solution to the Anchor and that sound mighty fine, i'll have to use it. I aslo have a question for those who used Anchors. Do you find that you can easily get turned around by the wind? Should I get two smaller anchors and attach them to both sides of the boat? I thought this might be a better idea to stay facing the right direction.
  16. Looks like you guys had yourselves quite the time! Nice Video!
  17. I had a chace to fish the Nicola river in BC this year for about 2 hours durring high noon. While walking toward the river throught the tall grass all I could see were hoppers jumping, or flying away from my movements. Once on the water I tried nymphing at first since there were no visible rises with little success. I eventually tied on a Dave's Hopper and all of a sudden the fish that weren't rising were taking this hopper aggressively. Now i can't verify that I was catching only because they were hoppers, but it sure seemed to match the formula that i've read about soo often. I would agree with doc that trout are opportunistic and may have hit just because they looked buggy, but a single dave's hopper on the line worked for me then. Now I know this isn't southern Alberta, but it sure seemed that a hopper pattern could raise a fish that wasn't already surface feeding. My point? I suppose that trout woudn't hone into hoppers like they would green drakes durring a hatch, but I bet that they would see a large meal that would take less energy than 10 small meals and decide it's worth an effort. I also bet that a trout that had sucessfully eaten 10 hopper/stonefly sized bugs would realize that this isn't a meal he would want to pass up.
  18. Both look really good but I like the guinea fowl, matches the polka-dots in the Bandana

http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_the_chea...erwater_housing Here is how the Navy Seals do it. Haven't tried it myself, but i'm quite impressed with the quality of video considering.
  20. AHHH i can't see it, what am i missing out on !!!!
  21. well that flossing doesn't seem to sporting, at all does it? I've read some articles on them but since they primarly feed on plankton, they are hard to fair angle for. I found a few sparsely tied flies with green. i'll have to give them a try, the consensus is green whatever for sockeye.
  22. Here is my dog, she is only a year and a half but smart enough to be not dumb, just happy n healthy. She is some sort of mutt. They found a box of em (5) on the side of the highway near westlock. And here she is with the cone Hey Pipestoneflyguy, what kind of dog is yours? She has the same ears and eyes and kinda close nose. The tail gots some curl in it too.
  23. Hello all, So in August, I have about a week scheduled to get to port qocquitlam. I was hoping to do up some fishing/camping all allong the way, as well as fish pitt lake/river( which is where I'm ending up). According to resources, there is a Sockeye run then. So I was hoping I could get some advice on places to camp/fish. I'lll be getting national parks and a BC license so I'll be able to hit the some points allong the way. Any advice would be appreciated. I also would like some advice on any flies that I should have tied up for the sockeye/dolly varden. I imagine streamers is the way to go, but I'm willing to spend alot of time filling a box for the journey.
