What is the ideal hair?
-
I've been debating about an air horn. The ones that screw on the top of a small can of compressed air. Would eliminate the overshoot problem of bangers, and I'm sure they would turn anything a banger would anyways. Still on the fence about a 12 ga. for camp though...

I use a razor blade. Not the rigid kind, but the flexable ones (get em from a drugstore). It helps if you use kind of a swiping motion. Once you have the bulk of the excess removed, bend the blade between your fingers and do any finishing touches. Sharper is better.

The "premium plugs" comment makes me wonder a bit..
Not sure about the newer Taco's, but the 3rd gen 4Runner's were EXTREMELY finicky with spark plugs - NGK or Denso - and single electrode only!
Everything else = horror stories.
I can't recall what plugs are in there now, but I think these are the third set, each set was different. Doubtful it's the plugs, but anything can happen. I'll do some research and see what the hardcore taco gearheads recommend and give them a shot. Thanks.

All required and recommended maintainance done by Toyota (whatever that's worth). Premium plugs. The tires aren't stock, but I did own the truck with a stock setup for over six months and the milage was the same. I've tried every octane rating of fuel, different brands of fuel, all with basically the same result. I base my milage on GPS distances (bread crumb trails) rather than the odo. to account for the speedo/odo being out of calibration. I've been online looking for answers, all roads lead to a programmer, not interested while still on warranty. I guess it is what it is, a 4wd 250hp, 270ft.lb truck.

I guess hard on fuel is a relative statement. I just filled up earlier today- all city driving with some 4x4 driving around town on the side streets and I got 22mpg (calculated).
I regularly get 28mpg on the hiway in the summer and 24 mpg summer/city. Hey it's not honda civic mileage, but it's a 4x4 with 250hp that has lots of power for passing on the hiway and hills, and can tow over 6000lbs. I have owned a couple of full size 4x4 pick-ups (Tundra and ford) and they never got close to this mileage. For sure the Tacoma gets 20% better mileage in all conditions than my experience with the full size V-8's
WHAT? 99% of my miles are highway, I try to keep close to the speed limit in this vehicle and I baby it. The best I've managed is like 19mpg. All fluids are synthetic, I do have the 6 speed man. though, which is suposed to be SLIGHTLY worse on fuel than the auto. What gives?

The newer style (05 and up) Tacomas are HARD on fuel. I traded a 98 half ton Ram for the 4L Tacoma, basically the exact same milage. The Taco is a powerful little truck though.

I bought a truck back a year ago. Virtually painless. Use this website http://www.riv.ca. I bought a used Hyde here in town last summer. I'm pretty sure i have all the documentation from the original owners import process. If you want to take a look at it let me know, from what I looked at, it was real similar to the motor vehicle documents. I think the biggest thing was the trailer, not the boat.

If those don't work, I quit.

I do ALOT of hwy driving. There are places where time can be made up via speeding, but dube is right, it has to be a fairly significant distance to make it worth it. The west country is not one of these places. There are only so many places where a person can speed just due to the roads/topography. The RCMP/Sheriffs/County Mounties know where these places are and just do laps. East of hwy 2 is different story. With the exception of the Drumheller area, just pick a secondary and let 'er rip. Within reason of course, depending of road conditions, vehicle, ect. my max speed where I feel comfortable is about 140.

If you're not set on a sport specific jacket, MEC makes some good stuff.

Small, all black Bitch Creeks work well. Real simple tie.

I would think things like, tires, brakes, ball joints ect., windshield, all the lights and any recalls are going to get checked for sure. If I remember correct, if the vehicle is less than 10 years old, you wouldn't need an inspection.

There's a good tip in here
to get a nice collar. -
I fished the Green a few years ago. Very cool country, good people too. Not exactly sure what time of year I was there, but I'm thinking Mayish. Virtually everyone on the river was knocking the *hit out them with cicadas. I was in the area for work and managed to put two fairly solid walk and wade days in. I caught them on everything, nymphs, dries and streamers. Had the most consistancy with streamers, olive or brown. No monsters, but good, solid fish. It was busy though, I didn't know that many drift boats existed.

You haven't stayed in Golden, untill you've stayed at the Rondo.

I've been in the Bass Pro in Denver, their fly fishing section was full service for sure, comparable to Wholesale's section. I live in Airdrie and know I'll be spending money in there, as I'm sure alot of people living north of 16th will be.

It's probably tennis elbow. Go to a physiotherapist.

Musky Hunter. Just kidding, although it must be somebody's fav. it's basically on a loop on WFN. Sport fishing on the Fly gets my vote. The Trout Diaries are good as well.

Went teeth first into a fireplace hearth - basically all my teeth gone, had to have lower lip reattached (being a kid/having no fear)
Drove my femur through the top of my tibia - twenty some pieces (skiing/booze)
Multiple broken fingers, hands, toes, feet (hockey)
Lynn, had a buddy get hit with the gal bladder thing this past summer. It wasn't pretty.

Fish as much as possible. Period.

Had to take my truck to Crappy Tire when I brought it up from down south for an out of province. Took them like 20 min, the guy at the service counter did it. Not sure if it's the same type of out of province inspection, but it was painless. I suggest finding the busiest Canadian Tire in Calgary, they probably won't look that hard.

You should ask member Simpson about midge hooks. I can't recall what he uses, but they're bullet proof. I've seen him pull some LARGE trout straight upstream with them.
