I just wanted to say that im really impressed with their service. Broke two of my main rods, sent it in and within 2 weeks I had the fixed rods delivered to my door. When I broke my sage it took over a month to get it back So if you are in the market for a new rod. I recommend Winston.

I also have a pair of freestones with cleats. I just bought a pair of g3's for the boat. I've used them on 15 outings. Love them. I think they support my feet and ankles better when wading.

We did a float from police to mckinnons last weekend. Water was really low. We launched at 6 am and pulled off the water around 4 pm. We stopped a few times to fish some pockets. Mind you I did the police to mckinnons float a few weeks ago and we did it in 3.5 hours. This was forward paddling the majority of the way

Anyone know what time it's open in the am? Was hoping to launch at 5 am from there Monday.

no actual pictures of how the recovery went down, kinda had to see it to understand. basically what happened was tungsten was on his boat with murray, they used a stick to reach the bow line that was already there and tied it to murrays mountain climbing rope. from there they brought the line to shore where Tikkam and I were and they jumped on shore and all of us pulled it with our bare hand out. at least that's what I remember lol

or a tin basher? wondering if anyone can recommend someone to install a hood fan, there is no existing venting so I need the hvac and venting through attic to the roof done. its hard to find someone to do a quality job on this btw its a bungalow if that makes any difference

the Calgary FD should be taking opportunities like this to practice and hone their skills on the water as much as they can since there is so much use of the river over the summer. not just pick and choose what they want to spend their resources on. hey biggyJ, thanks so much for the offer, we will take you up on it, Tikka will be msging you shortly

I called Strathmore FD this AM and let them know not to waste their time because we pulled it out yesterday. I think it would be good to set up a group of guys from FFC who are willing to help with drift boats and jet boats, kinda like a search and rescue. Im willing to help anyone who has issues as well on the water. ill be there in a flash for whatever I could help with, if anyone needs anything don't be afraid to ask.

fishing gears all recovered except for my one buddies rod that he was holding. I just moved and left all my gear in my boat when I transported it to the new house and forgot to take it all out. I had 3 Winston b3x rods in the tubes inside the rowers bench, my wading pack with all my fly boxes dries nymps streamers foams. everything. the 2 Winston b3x rods with hardy reels were in the rod holder in the boat. Mike Algar from fish tales spotted them on a guide right in the defection caused by the sunken boat. he pulled them out and the two reels. managed to keep one complete line but the other one was a write off. both rods were snapped half way , the other halfs were still in the rod holder ! along with the flies that were tied up already seriously lucked out on this one. so grateful for all your help guys

hey guys its out and there was minimal damage, it floated great from police to mckinnons tonight! it was the fasted ever police to mckinnons on drift, it took us about 3 hours. the fishing was a bit slow but seems like it was the nicest float all year. before I get to that first and foremost I would like thank everyone who helped in this stressful time to find and recover the boat. special thanks goes out to (in no particular order) Tim (Albany), Mike (Tungsten), and Murray, you guys went above and beyond to help today and yesterday. without you guys this woud have never happened and the boat would still be sitting there. what a sight it was seeing that bow come out of that water and watching the worlds biggest streamer on the swing to the bank. I don't think that recovery went any smoother with all the help today. special thanks goes to fishtales shop staff and guides for notifying me within a few hours that someone spotted my boat, what a relief it was when I got that call telling me where my boat was sitting. surprisingly from what we could see when we pulled it out there was only minimal damage. the bottom of the boat has a big dent in it probably from hitting the rock that it was wedged up against. WHAT A RELIEF. the only noticeable thing missing was my one carbon fibre oar, my hoagie, chips, and a Gatorade. what actually gave us a chuckle today was Tikka's ecigarette was still sitting nextr to the rowers seat exactly where he left it, and also the rear leg brace was pulled apart but all 3 pices were in the boat! I took everything out of the boat tonight but tomorrow in the AM I will snap some pictures so that you guys can see the condition of the boat after a 36 hour submerging after a ghost drift for 1 km downstream. I bet you guys will be pretty surprised. I will recommend aluminum to everyone who buys a drift boat. those things can take a beating. im sure if it was a fiberglass it would have burst into pieces. so the plan now is to pull all the panels off to assess how bad it is, before the floor panels go back on ill add some sort of marine spray foam to all the hidden areas tocreate some buoyancy so that if the boat takes on water it will not completely sink for me or future owner of this boat. really thankful for everyone's help and keeping this thread alive. now I can finally eat and sleep knowing we got it outta the water as a side note : everyone talking about the red roof guy. hes not a bad guy, hes just got a different sense of humor. you show respect to him and he will do the same. easy formula. ps. a big thanks goes to heritage point fire department for being useless. they can spend our tax payer resources to save kittens off trees but real world problems they cannot mitigate. bravo *clap* *clap*

when people park their cars they should also mount a game camera to somewhere in the parking lot in hopes to catch the culprits license plate and what not

the boat is closer to the north bank, it is not at all reachable from the south bank, unless you have super long line. new plan of attack much safer and more efficient, if the red roof house land owner gives us permission to use their land ( we wil lmake sure they know we will be responsible for any remediation of their land from damage caused) we plan to bring a crane in to reach out above the boat and lift the boat out of the water. the crane has a reach of 85 feet and at maximum reach the maximum load it can hold is 5000 lbs, so more than enough. way more safer to every one involved by using a crane. less chance to damage the boat further as well. im trying to get a drone in hand so I can go fly the site shortly and create a 3d model from the data collected to take measurements and what not to assist crane guys and everyone who may be helping out today. will try to provide a large ortho of the area if I can get the ortho data emailed to office from site will be posting pics once we do get some progress on it. for all you who are interested and have offered to help. as a side note, fly fish Calgary is such an awesome community we have gotten so much help or offers of help from people. you guys are great. the Calgary fly fishing community is such a tightly knit group of people with people from various backgrounds and occupations. once we set the word out that the boat was lost within a couple hours it was spotted and they let us know right away. so grateful for everyone.

called foothills fd and the guy was kinda ajackass, I told them it is a navigating hazard and once that thing does become dislodged during the next rain that its basically a 2000 lb weight barreling down the river which is so faking dangerous but he said "we don't rescue crafts we only service people who need rescuing" I said ok thanks im trying to mitigate the problem before it gets to be a bigger problem. I said I don't really care the condition of the boat or how it comes out but it needs to come out to minimize the risk to the public downstream. I don't want to be held my fault if worst case scenario it barrels down and hits another boat or even worse a wader wading in waist high water or something. the Strathmore FD said they would help if foothills wouldn't so I called Strathmore and they said they would come take a look at it before they commit. talking with the hydro engineers at my work and water guys they came up with a plan of attack is to attach a tow cable to the boat again, get land owner permission right by the bank and bring a tow truck to attach to the tow line we attached to the boat and pull it that way. they said the most force on the tow line is when trying to dislodge. they said that once its dislodged and it pendulum swings to bank while dragging on the bottom that the line should be able to hold if it held for dislodging it if anyone has the number to the red roof house owners please let us know if worst comes to worst and we get access from landowner im bringing in a crane to lift it right outta the water my god, this is a pretty big project

So put eyes on it. It's right down on a gravel bar being pinned by current. Couple helpful gentlemen reached down and grappled the bow line but couldn't manage to move it. I have super long tow rope, inflatable tubes, compressors, come along and winch now. I'm worried because it's only about a foot covered in water and in a jetboat line that it's gonna get hit and damaged by the unsuspecting jet boater If anyone with a jetboat Or even a power drifter. Can help tonight. I just need a lift to tie the tow line to the bow line. And bring us to shore to winch it to a tree upstream. Hopefully if I winch it a bit upstream and losen it it will swing across like a big streamer. Maybe to make my day better ill catch a monster brown on the swing

Found the boat mid river in a foot or two of water. Anyone with the means to get it out please Call me

guy rowing my boat this morning wasn't paying attention hit rock and sunk drift boat close to policemans and it floated away submerged. now im literally dead int he water. anyone with a jet boat willing to help and go for a cruise downstream to try to find it with me? will pay whatever costs associated. anyone drifting and spots it please let me know, lost my bestfriend today.. please call me or text me

nothing wrong with the bobber lol. actually we went for a float last week and buddy was using this super big 1.5 inch thingamabobber and it was great! never lost sight of that bobber once!

For those of you who leave your boat parked on your driveway, what do you use to prevent someone from coming up and hooking up to their trailer and driving away with your best friend? I have a key deadbolt lock to prevent a ball hitch from connecting. but that's pretty useless if someone has a pair of cutters. are there any locks or anything you guys use? Currently my boat is locked away in the garage but I would like to store outside on my driveway. im super paranoid that someone will hook up to it and drive off. another fear is if its parked outside someone could easily take off the boat cover and jack my oars as well. first world problems I guess thanks in advance

thanks guys I've never floated mckinnons to carsland only police to mckinnons in your opinion which of the two stretches are better in regards to fishing
