More info. about these trips from Brian....

"Just to let folks know, the trips will meet in the Crownsnest Pass (or at the Gap), as I won't be able to pick people up from Calgary, unfortunately. And, it's the same as my old trips used to be when I operated my guiding service. Bring yer own lunch/snacks/beverages and prepare to start early and stay as late as you want... none of this 8 hour stuff... this can start at 7am and end at 11pm if you want. Be prepared to do a bit of hiking, if you want the best spots, but if the winning bidder is not able to walk far, I have some nice spots for that too. I'd like to do this on a Friday, Sat. or Sun., unless I have a gap in work schedule. Winning bidders need to be flexible when arranging the dates of their trip.

I have 2 rods that can be set up for the trip, or bring your own (recommended rod is a 3-5wt with floating line, and if you got an 7-8wt kicking around in case we spot some Bulls, have it lined with fast sink tip)." Brian Peace

  9. Who gives a ____ what body of water?

Well, because the general public still perpetuates "as long as it don't happen in my back yard" in their own way. This board is certainly not immune. Why else did it take 5 or 6 years to follow the lead on SW? (Congrats on that, btw, it's a great thing.) This ain't an attack about that, I'm just pointing out that our waters are only going to be preserved one step at a time, one water at a time, that folks still would rather bitch about generalities than get involved, and that if someone has a heart felt passion for the water that the offense occurred on, then this kind of thing could spur that person into action. Not determining the water's name leaves things too much in the air to speculation, allowing us a psychological out to taking action. Otherwise, we'll end up watching folks simply bitch on internet forums rather than actually doing something. Hence my statement about getting away from generalities. Far too many people speak of generalities as a cushion to doing something - naming the water body spurs passionate people into action. I don't know if you get my point or can see my perspective. I'm not intending to lambaste Clive for posting this - it's good to have attention given. Where it fell short is giving good information so that it falls into a possible action for someone who loves BHR, rather than falling into "just another bloody infraction" department like so many other times on these forums.

I get your point. Thanks for posting.

  13. Well, I disagree with your comments TaKo.... FYI...Wong is indeed a Canadian name, with a Canadian Heritage that goes back more than a century in this country. I also find it kind of ridiculous to insinuate that poaching has a name and that it's name is Wong, or more broadly "that type of name"...That is kind of ridiculous if you think about it.

A poacher is a criminal and criminals can be found anywhere on the planet. So, though your intent is not to come across as racist, your statements are clearly crossing that line. So, if this is just a case of a bad choice of words on your part, I'd suggest a little editing of your post.

We are looking for first bids on these items folks...

  17. I think that single hand casters need to ask themselves this one question.

Why, would experienced, very skilled anglers, who fished with single handed rods for decades, tell you that two handers were the way to go?

Why would they say that? Do you think it is these folks who "don't get it".

I'd say, it's likely the folks who have no experience/skills with Spey casting or two handed rods that are the ones who have something to learn, not the other way round.
