  1. I have 'till the 24th but I might only be able to go one more weekend if I'm lucky. For some reason the company I work for thought it was a good idea to have a weekend long Christmas party on the last weekend of hunting season, go figure haha. It's a small enough company they would know if I wasn't there too haha. I didn't make it out this last weekend because of the highway conditions. I figured I didn't need the meat bad enough to risk putting the car with my family in the ditch. Like I say I might head out one more time, if not I'll get out my e-caller and start calling for coyotes until spring
  2. Nice! Looks like it was probably worth turning down the deer the other day to find that guy! Hope you didn't freeze too bad, that sounds crazy. All though I wish I could've been out in it haha. Is your elk season still open?
  3. That's awesome! I'm sure your son will remember the time spent for a long time. Good luck if you head out this weekend.
  4. Dang! I had that happen to me last year. They must know what time it is haha. I couldn't agree more! It makes it that much more fun if you can carry a rifle with you when you do go for a walk in the woods even if you don't use it haha. A couple of weekends ago I convinced my dad to come with me. He hasn't hunted for 20+ years and it was the first time we have ever gone together. We didn't get anything but its probably better we didn't. I learned so much from him and had a great time. It was probably the best day of hunting I've had
  5. Awesome! Did you get any or at least see anything? The few times I've been out this year I haven't even seen any. Hopefully next weekend
  6. I'm not sure that I know the uncle you know. I don't know many of his aunts and uncles. I know his parents and both sets of grandparents and that's about it. I haven't followed the players super close this year but we were listening to the home opener on the radio on our way out of town. I was surprised to hear the name of a different goalie then who was playing last year. When I got home I checked the roster and he was listed as a reserve. I was a bit confused by that, he was awesome the last couple years. Good to hear they have the goalie situation sorted out though. It's pretty frustrating and mentally tiring to out play teams all the time and still lose. I didn't realize they charged for kids. I'll find out soon enough haha. I just figured for the flames by the time you're stuck in traffic and pay $15 or however much it is for parking now on top of the ticket price it makes it pretty pricey for one night. I've never bought a flames ticket, just had them given to me but the ones I've had we're in the $80-$100 range. I don't even spend that much on a fly line haha. I really do like the Okotoks games though. It's a nice small town family atmosphere that I really enjoy. I had forgotten about some things I have going on tonight so it looks like I won't be able to make it to the game unfortunately. I'm not so worried about my little guy with the noise other than his hearing. My ears are a bit sensitive I actually wear ear plugs to things like that so I'm a bit worried about how his will be as he gets older. We'll see though, I'm excited to take him to his first game. Although he's been to fair amount before he was born haha
  7. That's funny he was #25 last year. He changed it this year to #10 I believe. I haven't been able to make it to a game yet this year but I think thats what he said he was wearing this year. He is the captain. That's pretty impressive if your nephew is 16 and playing on the team. He must be pretty good. That's awesome. I'll keep an eye out for him next game I go to. We were thinking of going on Saturday but we have a 7 month old and think it might be too loud for him so we are trying to find ear muffs small enough for him haha. He all ready has an Okotoks jersey so he's ready to go haha. Good luck with your son's season. Hope it goes well
  8. That's an awesome experience for your son! That's pretty cool! We have a friends son that plays for Okotoks as well. Always like going to the games, good hockey and a heck of a lot cheaper them a flames game
  9. Have no idea if its related, but yesterday I noticed two boats with motors at harvie passage. Couldn't tell for sure but it looked like were surveying parts of it. Looked like they had a GPS on the boat and then later I noticed one of them using it along some of the rocks in the middle. They were in and out of the boat a fair bit. They were there for a few hours. I left around noon and they were still there. Maybe lad was on to something
  10. Haha I've done the same, maybe not 40 feet though. I guess you win 😀haha
  11. Thank you! The links were very helpful. If looks like I'll have to be priority 13 or 14 to get my antlered moose. That kind of surprised me. I guess the good side is that my son might be old enough to go with me by that point
  12. Wow p10 hey? That seems like a long time. I'm still fairly new to this if you can't tell haha. Glad he was able to get one that big. That's pretty cool. I saw a show one time about the moose draws in Maine I believe. There it seemed like it was just a random lottery so if you actually got one it was a once in a life time deal. I seem to remember them talking to someone that waited over 20 years for his. Any way I'm assuming I can google to find out how many tags were issued for a specific WMU? I'll see what I can find
  13. For sure you need to pass an out of province. I can't remember for sure (its been awhile since I did mine) but I think it also needs a Canadian import inspection of some sort. The main one is that it has to be at least 15 years old. And that's down to the month of manufacture. It should be on the inside of the door or firewall I believe. It's for sure doable but the things that could be deal breakers are if it doesn't pass the out of province can you get parts for it and how long will it take to get them? For example I painted my car a few years ago and took out the windshield because it was cracked a little on the bottom. I figured I'd replace it with the North American version and threw it out. So I go to put the new one in and realize that it doesn't fit because the bottom goes lower on one side because of the windshield wiper motor and its on the opposite side as the Japanese car. So it took somewhere around 6 months to find a used one that was cracked worse than the one I threw out. It's worth looking into though. Things like brakes and starters and alternators if they're not the same as something else sold over here can be a hassle. It's kind of funny to go to a parts store and ask for parts from three different vehicles because that's what cross references to yours. Depending on what it is too there might be enough of them all ready imported that you might find some used stuff if you need. I'm not trying to scare you off, you can find some good deals. Just trying to make sure you're aware of some things and don't make the same mistakes that I did. The other thing to think about is there are times when driving a right hand drive vehicle can be scary. Like turning left at an intersection when some one coming the opposite way is waiting to turn as well. You can't really see past them if some one is coming. Also if you want to pass on a two lane highway. You can't see past the vehicle you want to pass to see if anyone is coming towards you. Sorry like I say I'm not trying to scare you off but just trying to help you make a more informed decision. Hope it helps and sorry for the long post. Let me know if you have any more questions.
  14. Nice! That's awesome! How many years did that take? This was the first year I put in for an antlered moose in 300. I figure I'll have a few years to toughen up or find some friends haha
  15. Personally I would highly recommend going for a 4 piece. My 5 weight 9' rod was given to me, it's old enough that there weren't too many 4 piece rods at the time. It just barely didn't fit in the trunk of my previous car and was kind of a hassle. Seemed like it made going anywhere a pain. It ends up taking up more room then it should because you have to put in the back seat on an angle and when you open the door it falls down and you have to move it before you can close the door. It's to the point now that I don't even bring it unless I'm by myself. Other wise I bring my newer 4 piece rod which is an 8 weight, which is not ideal. It's way bigger then I need most of the time. I'm some times tempted to buy a another 5 weight rod in a 4 piece just so I can pack it easier
