Originally from the Maritimes I never much bothered with fishing....probably just took the water for granted. Moved to Alberta, and missed the water....so started spin fishing. Used to drop a couple of nymphs off my line and try to fish as close to what I thought was flyfishing as I could .....however this method proved not to be as exciting as it was in the beginning. I always loved to watch people flyfish....such a beautiful art. So last year I took the plunge and started flyfishing...and I've been hooked and broke ever since!!

Excellent point LoneFisher.....however there's LOTS of money and big paychecks in Alberta, the other not so sure about.....

LoneFisher....while your pick up lines sound good might I suggest you make one slight change....I think the girls would prefer to hear that you are majoring in "foreplay and female satisfaction" with a minor in quantum engineering.

Now, who would have thought that picking up garbage would have been such fun. It was kinda cool to be able to talk flyfishing with people who know what your talking about or don't think you are a geek for doing so!!! Truly great to meet some of you in person. I've learned alot from this board and am glad to have the pleasure of fishing with some of you. It wasn't exactly tough to hang out with you bunch of guys, u were all perfect gentleman.......Rick I will let you know when and where the next girls club meeting is and you can come and join us..just no story telling afterwards though

I really like the Logo with Dave's fly in it. Here's an idea...since the fly tying competition is opened up for everyone to participate...What if the prize for the winner was their fly as the center of the Logo? Even if it couldn't work on the hoodies it would still be cool for the stickers. More people may participate with the possibility of being made famous by their artwork.

Hopefully this will help bump up the women flyfishin stats a bit. Including myself I know 3 women who are not clickey, are adventureous, very social and love to flyfish. Now for the bad part the other two aren't single

I'll have to agree with weedcatcher you guys do give awesome advice. Last night was the first time I hit the river....and it was just as I had always imagined it would be and more. I saw a beaver, hooked myself in the back once, saw a mother duck with her family trailing behind, tangled my line countless times, beatiful water, hooked myself in the hat, beautiful flowers. Looking forward to meeting some of you on the river.......perhaps not right away thouugh

I took my flyfishing lesson yesterday....today I'm going to buy my rod and reel. Went to wholesale just to take a peek yesterday....the guy wasn't helpful at all. He was more interested in trying to sell me "pretty" rods cause I'm a girl, which kinda pissed me off...I don't care what it looks like how does it work!! I wanted to cast the rod outside to see if I liked it...he wouldn't let me. I wouldn't buy a $200+ pair of sneakers without trying them on first...I was kinda thinking the same with my rod. Is this normal that you can't try stuff out before you buy it? Anyways I think I'm going to go with the TFO Signature series rod with the Pfleuger Trion reel....cause so many of you have suggested it.....thanks for that.

This all sounds great!!! As soon I get my rod.......now whether that be from winning it here or buying one I'm not sure, but one thing is for sure I'll need one!!! See you soon

I've just been listening to the AWESOME advice you guys share and I'm signed up to take a Flyfishing course on July 7 (I've never been Fly Fishing before) I can't wait to use some of the advice I've gained from you all.....perhaps when I know what the hell I'm doing you wouldn't mind a fishing buddy:)
