I have a snowbee geo reel that i have owned for the past year or more and now the odd time when i pull line out it will free spool and the line will become loose and bunch up in the reel. (hopefully this makes sense) Im just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? and what it could be, as i dont believe im doing anything wrong and the drag is set enough that this should not happen. Any help would be great!
Not sure what the problem could be, can you tighten the drag all the way down and if so does the reel still 'free spool'. These reel do spin freely when no drag is applied, just wondering if by chance the drag knob is being turned un-noticed during your normal everyday operation of the reel (I've had it happen to me) as the star knob is quite large.
If you are still having troubles, contact Courtney at The Nile Creek FlyShop it may be something he is familiar and can provide a solution..

Yup definitely, almost 50 hours, sorry Lornce. And I stand corrected, it was a 4wt (I had it lined with a 5wt XS-tra distance line). 5:30 was way too early this morning.

The Mystic rods that Courtney had at his booth looked pretty nice, but they didn't bring one in a 5 wt

You didn't look hard enough, or at least didn't ask the right guy Lornce, pretty sure we had a 5wt single and a switch at the booth, sweet rods!!. The 8wt single felt like a 5wt when I picked it up and their Switch rods were sweet little casting sticks.. Like Murray and Mike, I too grabbed a Prestige Switch (6wt), a 13'2 7wt Beulah Platinum Spey and a 10' 5wt Beulah Platinum Switch, a couple lines, new tying /reel bag and a few other nick nacks. Was definitely great seeing lots of old friends as well as making some new ones, only 362 more days til next years.

as the title says, we are looking to borrow a mitre saw for a day (26th of Jan) for construction of our booth (Ogilvie Outfitters - Nile Creek Fly Shop). If anyone can lend us one it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, Wholesale Sports won't do that (next time go to a dedicated fly shop [any of the sponsored shops on here] and they'll take care of you!)!!

Why bash a business? He contacted SA they said send it in, throw it in an envelope and mail it in , you'll get a new line (probably an upgraded one) and probably some SA swag (you won't get that from the local dedicated fly shop). And SA will get a chance to examine a potentially defective product instead of it going into the trash at the local flyshop and the manufacture never knowing about it.

And they seem to think they get them over and over and over and over again. One or two runs through the same stretch is great but after the 4th or 5th time through just because you hooked one fish, come on!!

Its an eastfork 10' 5. I dont need anything with huge stopping power, just something that looks nice and is good quality. The demon looks awesome, but a little steep. Courtney and I have been in contact for the past 2 years, i'll shoot him a note. Im looking for something thats decently balanced and towards the large arbor size!
Take a look at the Snowbee Geo cassette, very nice looking reel.

Nile Creek Fly Shop (sponsor here) carries Vision, had a chance to play with some of their rods and really like them, the Cult 2 handed rods are well put together and have a very 'custom' look to them, their glass rods would make really nice small stream rods too. Reels seem well designed and rate right up there with a lot of other reels. I'm really liking their clothing line as well although I think I may be a generation or 2 late to wear some of their clothing (I think the same thing about some of Loops stuff as well).

I've been using a Snowbee Sling Bag, I like it a lot when I'm using a spey or switch rod as it is out of the way when casting but can easily be swung around when you need something out of it. The main pocket is designed so that when you swing it to the front it is facing up and acts as a tray when you open it, very convenient when tying on flies.

I'm running the new Snowbee Prestige Switch line (300gr 5/6) on my 4/5 Beulah, lots of fun to cast, these are a great line for all switch rods. I believe Courtney (Islandguy) had a major role in designing these lines.
If you want to give the 300gr a try on your rod shoot me a PM and we can arrange a time for you to borrow it.

Do people know who you are in these shops? My guess is yes, your a seasoned veteran out there SD and people respect you for it! Its not the same for everyone. I personally have found that the flyfishing community is very small and cliquey, to some extent or the other most of us know who each other is just form hanging around this website. Honestly Im with CDone on this one, Ive recieved crappy service everywhere. Im sure it was just me though, going in to buy a $5.00 pack of hooks and leaving with $120.00 + worth of tying supplies or whatever is uasually a good enough reason to give someone attitude. Glad I dont do that anymore.
Never said 'crappy'. For me poor service can be a simple as lack of acknowledgement when I enter a shop, I don't expect the clerk to jump but at least a nod or 'hows it going' would suffice. And I agree with Lornce you do get what you give.

Wow... I just coughed up my coffee. That is some funny stuff!
On another note...IMHO BassPro is the worst store in town and I will be happy to visit the smaller, independent guys who seem to care, know what they are talking about, know the river and give you the time of day.

None Taken, can't say that everyone I worked with pulled their weight and went out of their way to help folks, another reason I left. In all honesty though I've had poor service in almost every shop in the city, sometimes people just have an off day.

I did it for a while (fly shop) got to meet some 'interesting' folks. For me the commute (37km one way) was too much for a couple shifts a week. Funny thing is I never used my discount once, is that a sign that I may have too much gear already
.By the way the flies come from Umpqua and Rainys with the little tags already on them.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the property. I would guess it can not be developed for some reason. Maybe contaminated?
I'm pretty sure it is because of contamination from heavy metals/chemicals and such, plenty of industry in that area back in the day. There are a few areas marked as 'refuges' and then fenced in with a 6 foot chain link fence to keep things out/in?

I have a Scotty anchor lock with the pontoon adapter on mine and use a 5lb dumb bell for an anchor, works like a charm. Position yourself upwind from where you want to fish, drop anchor and let the wind keep you straight.
For fins I second the dive fins, but get yourself a pair of neoprene booties to go over your wader feet, will pro-long the life of your waders.

XSD's are great reels, unfortunately they are being discontinued, to be replaced by the Onyx, hopefully these will be available to us very shortly. Not sure what stock Courtney has in the shop but it might be worthwhile to give him a call if you are looking for a cheap, dependable reel.
