  1. Hello, Just wondering on when MacKinnon opens up? Is it a set date every year, or depending on early spring and conditions. I've heard April 1st and also April 15... Been out a handful of floats with in city limits and would be nice to keep floating east... Thanks
  2. One more thing I'll add to my Physio treatment, I forgot to mention. Acupuncture!! Everytime I went in they had 5-6 needles threw out the elbow and hand for about 20mins... It was part of the successful recovery.
  3. Last year I was fortunate enough to double up the amount of hours on the water compared to previous years. At the end of a long season, steelhead fishing in BC I started to feel discomfort and pain in my right arm (casting arm)... After arriving back in Alberta I went to see my doctor and was diagnosed with tennis elbow due to the amount of casting! I was given three options number one medication, two injections, three physiotherapy. so over the winter season I had physiotherapy and it did seem to help. My elbow did not bother me the rest of the winter. I have been out a handful of times this spring and still no issues. My question is has anyone experienced this? And if so what treatment did you decide and any precautions to prevent this from reoccurring? Once you have tennis elbow will this be something that returns? Looking for any input or advice... Thank You
  4. Very nice.. I wonder what the wife would think if I had that in the master bedroom.
  5. Nice... That would work very well on the Buckley for steelheads.
  6. Hello guys, Just bought this rod on sale from cabelas yesterday and wondering what the guys here reviews are? I bought it for two reason, first for my self to take small breaks from single hand on the buckey River for steelheads but mostly for my 13 year old son to fish streamers on the Bow River. I didn't want anything big and heavy but to keep it light as possible but enough meat and length to cast big steamers for the both of us. I thought about the 6 wt 12'6" but went with the 7wt. The rod is design for 510-620 grain line, any suggestions on what line weight I should match up? I think I got a good deal on it, it's $350 but got it for $250. Read some reviews online first and seems like good feed back so far.. Any feedback would be appreciated!! Merry Christmas and God Bless Thanks Marco
  7. Thanks guys for the inbut... Had a nice float yesterday but fishing was a bit slow. Got to fish creek at 8:30am and started my float at 9:00, Got to police at 11:00 with one stop. Continue the float and stop for about 5 times I guess roughy for 20-30min session. Arrived at McKinnon 8:00pm! Wow that wasn't too bad. I was a bit worry about time but could of made it a longer evening. Did not get dark till after 9:30... Flows were 78m3/s all day which made it a joyable float for a newbie like my self...
  8. Hello, Planing on heading down to Calgary for a float with the boy tomorrow. Just wondering with the water level and flows averaging 65ms at this time of year. Can I get a rough time table from fish creek to mc kinnon? I've done a bit of research on old messages post on here and came up with 8-10hr time table. I would like to stop 5-6 times at about 20-30 mins session for a bit of fishing for my self and make it in before dark. My decision by morning is do I take in from fish creek or play it safe and head straight down to police and depart... I know we're losing daylight daily and I'm thinking no later then 9:00pm off the water! Maybe even 8:30... Thanks Porto
  9. I have three boys my self and when all is good and healthy we take life for granted. Wish the boy and family all the best and healthy results moving forward... Marco

  14. For me.... Stimulators in orange, yellow, red and green in different sizes. On a picky day from the little buggars a #16-18 PMD will get a rise or two.
  15. Thanks... The fun part is taking them to the places I use to fish back 15-20 years ago. Crowsnest is where I taught myself the art of fly fishing, and the help of books and videos from the library. I honestly think it's the perfect river to teach and learn to flyfish. I can still remember the first trout I caught on a dry fly. 3rd week of June, mid week on the Crowsnest above the falls. A old tree over hanging the bank barley hanging on by the roots and about a foot from touching the water. Cast a orange Stimulator up stream from the tree tight from the bank and watched it drift underneath the tree trunk . 5-6 casts later I thought there's nothing there! Went with one last cast before moving on ( a perfect cast I must admit) and BANG!!! A pretty 18" rainbow. It was a hard aggressive hit and 3-4 leaps later it was at the palm of my hands getting ready to release it back into the wild... It was perfect and to this day I still remember every little detail of the "moment" Porto
  16. Thanks smitty.... That was fun! Looking forward to fishing with trout lover. For which this will be my first float on the bow. Also a big thanks to rickr for the opportunity Porto

  18. Thanks for all the tips... I ended up getting the two boys the superfly combo from cabalas. The combos are $99 and the neighbours kid works there and ended up getting them for $80 each. Comes with reel, rod. Float line and backing. The 13 year old got a 5/6# and the 10 year old 4/5#
  19. $160 on #1
  20. Never tried using streamers on a river. I'm thinking woolly buggars and muddlers?
