  1. Those granite etchings from Glenbow are some seriously nice pieces of work. And a great classy addition to any fly fishermans home check out the slideshow at http://www.glenbowflyfishing.com/slides/gr...out/default.htm

They honestly don't do the granites justice but aren't fish in pics always like that? Glenbow will correct me if I am wrong I hope but these thing are laser etched and have a high level of detail...... Measure about 12" by 12" (approx glen would know exact)

  2. Hmmm girls think we are so easy to figure out.... "we know what guys want"..... not true sometime we would just like to come home to a big boquay (boocay, bouquet I dunno) of flowers or a singing candygram or a string quartet at work..... Maybe some cuddling round a warm fire or just some talking..... were not so 1 track minded as you think......

  3. I like them as its a different form of flycasting. They have their places where I find them quite usefull but in some places and uses I see them as being a bit cumbersome..... I also have say that fishing nymphs with a skagit head at distances over 60 feet it damn near pointless if you have conflicting currents as you can't mend the heavy head very well with the light running line...... But a different line could remedy that issue. So like regular fly casting you need to continuosly modify your rig and gear to best use them for the present situation...... So this means a whole nother set of lines, spools, reels, leaders, tips ect..... it all costs money so if you want to keep your expense in the fly fishing hobby to the absolute minimum don't take spey as you will find that very little of your single hand stuff is gonna be useful. Another thing to mention is that until you have learned to push the single hand capabilities to the maximum the spey rod will simply become a crutch...... atleast thats how I feel. But if you have plans to go fish big streamers for big steelhead and salmon or trout in confined casting situations on large water...... they(spey) have to be priceless......

  4. Someone call 911 I think Fishietales is having a seisure!!!! LOL had to read that last line 3 times.

I wouldn't worry to much about these things yet.... they have not quite got the whole population to a state of total complacency and apathy yet. Once they do then they will make their move....... I just hope I get a new model of chip implant evey year and a green shock collar when "They" set their plan into motion.

  5. I subscribe also to the P.O.S system...... you can even do it with an open bed truck...... just put valuable fly rods in the back of the truck, cover with a wormy moldy old tarp and a broken childrens tricycle circa 1965 maybe a couple worn out pairs of shoes and bobs your uncle........ I think you could hide gold bricks in the back of a truck if you covered em with maggotty bread 4 hubcabs and a 2 month old bag of fragant smelts.

Anyways enough jokes I have heard that some of those GPS police systems are really really good. Am I mistaken or can you get such a system that they can actually shut the vehicle off remotely? Thought I heard about that

  6. Well hopefully they get all that stuff sorted out for you Din...... Sounds like you got some backup gear so you can still fish....... What'd your buddy say when you told him his stuff was MIA?

Its tough its to blame the the cops to much I figure. I know a few people within the Calgary Police and they are so desperate for more cops right now they'd even let me in..... Also the typical cop answer for the why are you sitting behind that sign arguement would be that they catch more criminals of all types doing that then they do chasing a single relatively minor crime that they have little or no chance to solve.... I think its a valid arguement but it sucks at the same time.

  7. I have the loop opti stillwater and its a nice line...... mine is a floating however. But I would imagine that the same line in a intermediate would be just as good...... That said I like a longer head because on the longer casts I find you get a bit better line control and better sensitivity.

This will likely be my next stillwater line

SA stillwater Invisible Sub-Surface Fly Line

both links are the same line but the one has the taper info. I haven't tried this line but for a slow sunk intermediate it should be good..... relatively long head so you should have great sensitivity up to 38-56 feet depending on what weight of line and rod...... Thats also before adding a leader. Should also pick up easier at distance if you need to quickly pick up from a long ways out and drop a cast on a cruiser.......

  8. http://cgi.ebay.ca/G-Loomis-Stream-Dance-M...1QQcmdZViewItem

I know its a bit outta your range but its a nice rod but I would say in some ways one of the better value rods..... however its been discontinued by g loomis as they came out with some new lines this year..... if it were me i would try to find out what the warranty replacement rod would be if you did break it.

But if your looking for a rod in that range you could check out TFO I don't fish them much but I have cast a whole bunch of em..... problem is I don't remember which were which but they all cast nice and they were cheap...... some of the other guys fish tfo a lot so I will let them make suggestions as they would know better.

  9. I would accept a YFZ450 just in case any of you ladies on here are stuck for something to get me.

    Pythagorus

    Its Johnny Cash

    The Last Gunfighter Ballad lyrics

The old gunfighter stood on the porch and stared into sun

And relived all the old days back when he was livin' by the gun

When deadly games of pride were played and livin' was mistakes not made

And he thought of the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

The thought of the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

And it's always keep your back to the sun

And he can almost feel the weight of that gun

And it's faster than snakes or a blink of the eye

And it's a time for all slow men to die

His eyes get squinty and he's straight as log

and he empties his gun at the dirty dog

And he's hit by the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Hit by the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Now the burn of a bullet is only a scar

And he's back in his chair in front of a bar

And the streets're empty and the blood's all dried

The dead 're dust and and the whiskey's inside

So buy him a drink and lend him an ear

He's nobody's fool and he's the only one here

Who remembers the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Remember the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Said I stood in that street before it was paved

I learned the shoot or be shot before I could shave

And I did it all for the money and the fame

Noble was nothing but feelin' no shame

And nothing was sacred but stayin' alive

And all that I learned from a Colt 45

Was to cuss the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Cuss the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Now he's just an old man that nobody believes

Says he's a gunfighter the last of this breed

And there's ghosts in the street seekin' revenge

Callin' him out to the lunatic fringe

He's out in the traffic down checking the sun

And he's killed by a car as he goes for his gun

So much for the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

So much for the smell of the black powder smoke

And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

  10. Colin the sad thing is you are likely right about the FBI thing bet someone watched me and my place from space most of the day yesterday.....

But anyways hold on the EMP I would have to walk to far from my car to safely use that anyways..... I was gonna call you tonight anyways as I checked your link and have a request and a question or 2. Thanks

Cool Courtney thats good to hear a company with a good warranty will always get my business before one with a crappy warranty....... My problem is I want to many rods...... But one for sure is gonna be a snowbee. I think I know which one as well. I Just wish I had casted it up at the expo....... But then we would have needed a bigger pool as it wasn't a short cast rod.......

  11. Cool thanks for all the info guys I am going to look more at the custom Dancraft FT Rod 10ft 3 wt Sounds like a perfect fit..... Luckily we have a builder on the site that by the sounds of it can make me one with a couple little design features I want ;) by the way CDone how are you making out with that rocket propelled fish seeking missile cork attachment I was asking about? Can I have a thermonuclear option? Or do I have to live South of the border for that?
